That is when, Chandra told Goswami that he will have to fine him for doing this. Perplexed Goswami asked why? Chandra told him that he should be knowing that use of plastic is prohibited in Ghaziabad and that is why, he will have to impose fine for committing this offence. Embarrassed Goswami paid the fine and then their meeting resumed.

Goswami had came to inform the Municipal Commissioner that he will break the ramp built outside his house by himself.

Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) had started a campaign to break the illegal ramps made by independent houses in the city. The corporation, through public announcement, is informing the residents to break their illegally built ramps by themselves otherwise corporation will take action against it.

Use of plastic is prohibited in Uttar Pradesh and could attract fine ranging between Rs 100 to 50,000. In 2016, the use of plastic measuring below 50 microns was prohibited which extended to all kinds of plastic and its carry bags including thermocol products from October 2018.

Since the day, Chandra has joined GMC as Municipal Commissioner, he is spearheading a campaign to discourage the public from using plastic.

On Wednesday, during an inspection at Kanwar camps, he urged Kanwariyas not to use plastic and thermocol items such as cups, plates, spoons, bottles etc. He ensured that the food and water will be provided to them in steel utensils.

Last month, he had fined a sweets shop owner when he offered him a packet of sweets wrapped in a plastic cover.

In the complaint, the AoA told the court that the developer collected a sum of Rs 20,000 per kva excluding taxes from each resident for giving power supply to their flats. The amount being charged is exorbitant as compared to the prescribed rates by the distribution company, i.e. Rs 400 per kva, the complaint stated.

The complainants further pointed at the developer's persent load for the electricity supply, stating that he is authorised to provide only 6000 kva power, but he is illegally selling 15000 kva to the residents. They complained that the developer is allegedly levying several other charges on residents.

The AoA said that though the public distribution company issued instructions for the developer for taking corrective measures against these alleged illegal charges, but the developer failed to adhere to the instruction of the company. It forced them to move court seeking relief from these charges and supply deficiency.

UPERC to hear public grievances related to proposed power tariff hike

Responding on the series of complaints by the electricity users in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad against Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limted’s (UPPCL) proposal to hike electricity tariff, the regulatory body – Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) to organise a public hearing on July 26.

Issuing a public notice, the office of Noida Power Corporation Limited (regional office Greater Noida) has invited the consumers to be present and put their grievances before the UPERC team.

The public hearing will be held at Expo Center Noida, A 11, Sector 62 in Noida. It will commence at 11 am. “You are hereby informed that the UPERC is convening a public hearing on annual revenue requirement and tariff for financial year 2019-20. You are kindly invited to attend the same,” NPCL’s advisory read.

CitySpidey had earlier reported that the monthly electricity bills are definitely going to burn a hole in the pockets of residents. Residents of Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad had opposed this proposed hike in power tariff. However, the Uttar Pradesh government has recently approved UPPCL’s proposal.

UPPCL has proposed an increase in the rates of domestic power by more than 25 per cent to Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC).

Against the current tariff of Rs 4.90 per unit for first 150 units, the tariff is proposed to increase by 26 per cent to Rs 6.20 per unit. Similarly, for the slabs of 150-300 units, 300-500 units and 500 and beyond, the increase in tariffs would vary from 12-20 per cent.

Meanwhile, in the commercial segment, 1-15 per cent hike in rates is proposed while rural households will also face the brunt of this spike. Besides, the rate of fixed charge is also proposed to go up by 10 per cent. The fixed charge for urban household will be hiked to Rs 110 per KW from current Rs 100 per KW.

UPPCL has submitted the proposed power tariff structure for 2019-20 with UPERC for vetting and final approval. Now, UPERC would conduct public hearing and later, issue a public notice before taking a call on the proposed tariff order.

Flat Owners Federation of Ghaziabad seeks ban on construction of high rises

Flat Owners Federation of Ghaziabad has demanded a ban on construction of high-rise buildings for next five years in the city. The demand has come after citing decreasing forest area in the city and rising levels of pollution.

In a General Body Meeting held on Monday, the federation tabled this demand in front of its members.

ghaziabad news

“We are demanding a ban on construction because trees are being cut to make way for the high rise buildings,” said TP Tyagi the president of Flat Owners Federation.

Tyagi also gave a reason behind this demand. “Local administration, development authority, municipal corporation and several NGOs are doing regular plantation to increase the tree cover in the city, yet, their efforts are failing to fetch results,” he said.

Tyagi also suspected the administration's data showing large number of plantations.  “In 2017, around 30,000 trees were said to be planted near Hindon River in presence of Meerut Commissioner in just one day. Currently, only 26 sq kms of forest area remains in Ghaziabad as per satellite mapping whereas four years ago, this was 49 sq kms,” Tyagi said.

“It means that either trees have not been planted or else government claims are wrong,” he remarked.

Tyagi went on saying that increase in high rises have decreased the forest cover and badly affected the ecosystem and environment.

He added, “Concrete jungles are increasing and real jungles are decreasing. The decrease in tree cover is affecting the monsoon and the overuse of groundwater is making it scary. As a result, the groundwater is on a verge of extinction and air pollution is at an all-time high in the city.”

Indirapuram: Shipra Estate delays salary, housekeeping staff on strike

More than 50 housekeeping staff at three high-rises of Shipra Estate Limited (SEL) in Indirapuram are on strike since Sunday after a continuous delayed salary.

A team of 50 workers and two supervisors employed in housekeeping divison of Shipra Krishna Vista, Shipra Srishti, and Shipra Neo have not received their salary for the month of June. “We were supposed to receive it by 10th of July. Then we were told that our salary will be credited by July 18. When we did not even receive it after the 18th, we decided to go on strike,” said a housekeeping staff.

indirapuram news

When asked whether they questioned their employer for the delay, the workers said that even their employer has not received payment for more than two months. The housekeeping staff at these three housing societies are provided by BVG India Limited. The agency is in contract with SEL for housekeeping needs at these three housing projects.

CitySpidey contacted the office of BVG India Limted to verify the information. The officials did not comment on the claim of workers, however, they said that they are in talks with SEL to resolve the matter as soon as possible.

Due to inadequate cleaning and pick up of garbage, the residents of these societies are uncomfortable. They are blaming the builder for this situation. “Garbage has piled up and in the rainy season  and it is inviting germs and diseases, all because of the builder,” said Dharamvir Singh, a resident of Shipra Krishna Vista.

Deepak Sethi, another resident of Shipra Krishna Vista said that it’s uncomfortable to watch garbage and dirt all around but builder has forced this situation upon the residents.

Preeti Shukla, a resident of Shipra Neo said that residents despite facing problems are in support of the housekeeping staff. “Only SEL is responsible for the problem,” she added. “Indeed we are disturbed due to dirty common spaces for last four days. However, we don’t blame the staff. SEL never fails to charge maintenance from residents by even a delay of an hour, and here, they have blocked payments for more than two months. This problem  has been created by the builder himself.”

City Spidey spoke to Surinder Adhikari, facility manager of Shipra Estate Limited. He remarked that he is in Gujarat currently and refused to comment on the matter. However, another official told CitySpidey that SEL has not paid dues of more than two months to the housekeeping agency. “But we are trying clear the dues of the agency by early Thursday,” the official said on the condition of anonymity.

SEL has been notorious for suddenly terminating the contracts of security agencies or causing delay in the payments of security guards. On May 1, the day when the world commemorates the contribution of labourers, SEL had fired more than 25 guards in Shipra Neo after they had protested for not being paid for more than two months.

A similar case was reported from Shipra Krishna Vista a few months ago where again, the security guards had protested after not being paid.

Then we have approached the CM window thrice. Finally, some action has been taken on the issue." gate management system

"Despite our repetitive complaints, there is no check on illegal construction. There are many houses in our area that are violating the norms and strict action must be taken against them." Singh added.

The residents informed that these houses are built in 60 square yards area of the G Block in the colony. They complaint that the owners of these houses have constructed 5 to 7 storeys in their buildings after covering 100 per cent of the ground area which is violating the building norms.

Abhay Poonia, another resident of Suncity said, "Most of these houses are engaged in commercial activities and running PG and guest houses which are violating the norms of the building plan. Due to this, the infrastructure here is getting affected, especially the power supply and roads."

According to the District Town Planner (DTP) Enforcement, Ved Prakash Sehrawat, after receiving the complaint we have surveyed the unauthorised construction raised in EWS plot of G-Block and found that the owners of these houses have violated the approved plan. The OC of these houses in Suncity colony has been canceled and as per the law, we have asked the concerned department to cut electricity, water and sewer connections.

Meanwhile, Dharambir Malik, Executive Engineer, MCG said, "We have received a letter from DTP and will soon take action. As per the laws, a weeks notice will be served in the coming days, informing them about the sewer and water disconnection."

GB Nagar: Additional surcharge on three facilities at societies to be waived off

Flat buyers may now get relief from paying additional surcharge on three facilities at their society or residential pockets as the district administration has proposed to waive them off.

Currently, buyer of residential property has to pay additional surcharge on stamp duty on three facilities while executing property registration. These facilities included community centre/club house, swimming pool and gymnastic. One has to pay 2 per cent additional surcharge on each of the mentioned facility.

This decision was taken considering the outcome of the previous waiver scheme announced last year. The administration had waived off the additional surcharges levied on power backup and and passengers' lifts in the society.

Officer with district administration told that the department had witnessed an increase in sales of stamp papers which resulted in 16 per cent hike in revenue collection.

District Magistrate, GB Nagar, BN Singh said that the administration has decided to reduce the circle rates of land in the district. Lowering the circle rate will reduce the cost of commercial and residential plots further. This new decision by the administration will benefit the new home buyers too.

He said, “The entire area in the district can be divided into four parts - Noida, Greater Noida, Dadri and Jewar. Presently, all these parts have different circle rates. Therefore, it was needed to determine one rate for all places.”

He informed that to develop industrial areas in Uttar Pradesh, the government is planning to cut the circle rates so that more and more commercial projects can be set up in the district.

He revealed that the minimum price for a circle rate is determined once a year keeping in mind the economic activities happening in the district. He also said that the revenue of the district has decreased considerably last year.

Due to this, the circle rate for commercial plots has been reduced by 21 per cent. He said that the decision has also been taken to waive off the surcharge on elevators and air condition at a commercial malls. Currently, 25 per cent surcharge is being collected, but it has been proposed to waive these surcharge as well.

The residents of RG Residency, a high-rise in Noida sector 120, have alleged poor maintenance services by the management of the society. They claimed, despite paying maintenance charges for two years in advance, they are forced to live in a poorly maintained society.

Tanveer Khan, a resident of the society allegedly said, “Green belt area in the society has become useless as the pruning of green grass has not been not done for the last several months. On the other hand, security guards have been removed from many towers.”

Another resident on request of anonymity said that the security agency has a reduced number of on-duty security guards saying it has not received payment from the management. “When I talked to security guards, they said they have not received monthly salaries for the last six months,” he said.

They further claimed, due to not paying water bills, the supply of Ganga water has been cut. “Each tower has the facility of two lifts, but only one lift is operational. There have been several incidents when residents got stuck in lifts but the management did not pay heed,” said Vaseem Haidar, another resident. Gate management system

Residents further alleged that due to lack of parking rules in society premises, people have a tough time. “The management has neither earmarked parking slots nor has distributed stickers which often results in heat arguments among the residents while parking their vehicles.”

Dwarka News

The objective of this endeavour is to provide required facilities from police under the provision of laws. Recently, a meeting was organised jointly by police and an NGO, Age Well Association, at Anusandhan Apartments in Sector 6.

Senior citizens from across the city took part in the meeting and interacted with the police.

On the occasion, ACP, Dwarka, Rajender Singh made the seniors aware about their rights and the ways to avail the services from police and administration. Seniors were given forms to submit their information to the beat officers present there.

ACP Singh informed that more such meetings would be organised with the help of residents, RWAs and social organisations. “With the help of people, we have started collecting data of senior citizens in the area. Our beat officers will be looking after the status of the seniors so that the required facilities under our jurisdiction and law could be provided to them,” he said.

He said that the move is aimed to also take care of the senior citizens who are living alone without their children. “There are also people who have been facing problems in family and suffering. We are just making them feel that they are not alone. We want to take care of them just like their children would do. Our efforts are in the direction of making them relaxed and free from any anxiety,” he added.

Beat officers are visiting societies and also organising meetings with senior citizens and educating them about the acts, rights and provisions by the government. They are also being trained to use the mobile applications made for their safety and security.

“Making them aware about the acts and their rights under law is our primary focus. We want them to be empowered and make them aware that they could use the provisions. We are making them aware about legal aspects and what facilities being given as legal support by the government,” said ACP Singh.

General secretary of Age Well Association, PK Chopra said that they are submitting the collected data to the senior citizens cell in the police stations.

He said that as part of the community policing, the support is being given to them. “We are making sure that all the senior citizens get registered properly with the senior citizens cell of Delhi Police. We have a meeting again with senior citizens on this Saturday too to plan on the subject,” he added.

Indirapuram: Disconcerted residents block prominent road against sewage overflow

More than 200 residents, belonging to Ahinsa Khand II, Indirapuram, blocked CISF road on Sunday to demonstrate their anger against lackadaisical approach of GDA towards resolving long-pending issues related to substandard quality of road and waterlogging due to sewage overflow in the area.

The residents hit the street around 8 am and stayed till 1 pm forcing the officials of the civic body and district administration to visit them and listen to their grievances. However, their road block resulted in huge traffic jam.

“For more than a year, the roads in our areas are in dilapidated state. Every now and then, the road outside the DPS gets inundated from dirty water coming out from the drain. We have escalated this matter to everyone. But no substantial action has been taken to resolve our woes,” said Jayati Jain, a protesting resident.

During the protest, residents were threatened for a lathi charge by police who visited the spot of protest as it was creating huge traffic jam on the road. However, the resident said that they were forced to do it. “We resorted to road blockage as the authority wasn't keen on resolving or even listening to our problem,” the protesting residents said.

2.5 hours after their demonstration, Harshvardhan Srivastava, City Magistrate and RP Singh, Chief of GDA in Indirapuram visited the spot.

While, Srivastava pacified the residents, Singh assured them for resolution of the matter related to road and waterlogging. Right now, we would pump out the water from the road and clean the drainage. We would also start the patch work at the road once these things are completed.

However, agitated residents didn't satisfy with Singh's offering. “We have been getting same assurances for last 6 months since he became chief of this area. We want assurance from some higher authority,” they said.

Later, VK Singh, Officer in Special Duty in GDA came to the spot and assured them that their problems related to road and waterlogging would be resolved within 10 days.  As of now, a pumping set has been brought in to pump out water from the roads.

Residents complained that the authority works only when they pressurise them. Three months back, when residents led a campaign of ‘No Work No Vote’ prior to general elections, authority swung in action and levelled the dilapidated road within a day.

They even promised for black topping of the road once elections are over and model code of conduct ends. But after elections, things again went back to square one.

The Mall Road connects 22 societies and over 40,000 residents of Ahinsa Khand II to the other parts of the city. But for the past one year, the road has been witnessing scenes of chaos.

As the condition of the road is very bad, many parts along its stretch got waterlogged, especially near DPS, creating nuisance for the pedestrians and motorists as well.

On Saturday night, an elderly man tripped over while riding bike on the road and suffered an injury near his left eye.
