Gzb police demolishes under-construction room of a temple; residents fume

Ghaziabad Police demolished a section of a temple in Indirapuram after receiving a complaint from the irrigation department. The priests were raising an illegal structure with the intent of encroaching the area. The room that was demolished was still under construction.

The demolition took place on Wednesday.

The temple situated near Kanawani Puliya is surrounded by over a dozen societies of Vasundhara and Indirapuram. The team that came for demolition had to face protest from more than 50 residents of nearby societies. Situation continues to be tense in the area.

The irrigation department said the land on which the temple is situated belongs to it. “The room was being built without seeking permission from the department. It seems like an attempt to encroach,” an official of the department added. Indirapuram News

“The temple itself is illegal. However we never took any action as it would hurt the sentiments of the residents living nearby,” he continued.

However, Srimahant Ramapuri, head priest of the temple, alleged that the land of the temple was provided by gram sabha of Kanawani village. “We have been worshipping here since the 1990s when the area was a forest. The priests of the temple have been maintaining it for decades. It is a prime place of worship with over ten idols for residents of nearby societies,” he said.

Ramapuri also added that the administration did not give any notice prior to the demolition.

While talking to City Spidey, Inderjeet, pradhan of the village, also claimed that the land was given by the village and does not belong to the irrigation department.

However, the irrigation department rebuffed the claims of the temple priests. “They (priests) could not provide any document supporting their claim,” an official insisted.

On the other hand, many residents saw the action as lawful and just.

Alok Kumar, president of Federation of Apartments Owners Association (FedAOA), said, “People should abide by the law. Any religious structure — whether it’s a temple or a mosque — can be shifted or demolished by the authorities if it stands in the way of development.”

GDA seals 5 housing projects in Gzb for failing to provide land for waste unit

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) sealed five group housing projects on Wednesday for allegedly failing to provide land for the construction of waste-to-energy plant at Galand, Ghaziabad.

As per the integrated township scheme, the developers are required to provide over 35 acres of land to the GDA for the upcoming plant. Ghaziabad News

The developers whose projects have been sealed include Crossings Infra Private limited, Path Tower, Samag Constructions, Golf Link and Jaipuria Sunrise. “Several reminders were sent to these builders but they did not comply to the scheme,” said GDA vice chairperson, Kanchan Verma.

According to the sources, GDA had earlier received an order from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) asking them to shift Pratap Vihar landfill to Galand by January 15, 2019. The authority needs to provide land to the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) to build a dumping site and for that the developers have to procure the land, a GDA official said.

A senior GDA official said that out of 35 acres of land required for the construction of the plant, only 22 acres has been received so far. “Only Hi-tech city, an integrated township scheme in Ghaziabad, has provided this land,” he added.

Meanwhile, sources at GMC told City Spidey that GDA has been able to provide only 20 acres of the total land required. CP Singh, municipal commissioner of GMC said that the land received is insufficient to develop the plant in Galand. “The state government has already assigned a Netherland-based company to develop the plant, but the lack of land is delaying its start,” he added.

Singh added that GDA must act promptly to procure the land if it wants to meet the NGT’s deadline.

Commenting on this, Verma said that the GDA has already thought of a back-up plan. “We will acquire the remaining land on our own and hand it over to GMC,” Verma informed.

NEFOWA starts campaign against multipoint power connection’s hefty charges

Aiming to strengthen their protest against the move to charge the residents of high-rises to install a multipoint power connection in Gautam Budh Nagar, the Noida Extension Flat Owners Association (NEFOWA) has decided to launch an online campaign.

The association has started an online petition to be signed by the residents. The petition opposes the notification of the Uttar Pradesh State Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPSERC) stating that flat owners will have to bear the infrastructure cost of multipoint connection.

The association says that they had started their protest against the conversion charges long time back when it was announced that builders will be allowed to recover the infrastructure cost from flat owners. Abhishek Kumar, president of NEFOWA said, “We are not against the installation of multipoint connection. In fact, we have been demanding it for a long time. Our objection is to a couple of points mentioned in the notification. First, why are conversion charges billed to residents? And second, why the maintenance of this infrastructure inside the societies will remain with the builder?”

Before launching the online petition on Wednesday, the association has been holding meetings in different societies informing flat owners about the complexity of getting a single-point connection converted into multipoint connections. Senior officials of Noida Power Company Ltd (NPCL) had also attended one such meeting in Gaur City where the officials had specified that flat owners will have to bear conversion charges.

Last week, a few members of NEFOWA had also raised the issued with Gautam Budh Nagar MP, Mahesh Sharma.

Vikash Kumar, a resident of Panchsheel Greens, who is also leading the campaign said, “We have decided to take the matter to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath but before that we want a strong support from the residents. That is why we have launched an online petition asking support from the residents.”

GB Nagar: Residents get ready with demands ahead of MP’s visit for elections

As the general elections draw closer, the politicians have started reaching out to the residents of high-rises in Noida and Greater Noida. But, it seems that the residents are going to let them off easily this time as they have prepared a long list of demands which they will be putting in front of him.

The list demands include - better transport services to commute between Noida and Greater Noida, foot-over-bridges (FOB), U-turn on the roads, daily maintenance system, snapping rising snatching incidents and many more. Noida News

Greater Noida West, which is a newly developed residential hub, has a population of more than two lakh people. The population is expected to swell by 3-4 times more in the future. The area needs more attention with several development works to ease the life of people living in the area.

Many people, who got fed up with the slow process of government authorities in providing public transport for the last couple of years, seemed to have decided to raise their demands when the politicians come to their societies to seek their support in the election.

For instance, residents of Gaur City town hub in Greater Noida West, which accommodate nearly 50,000 people in 14 different Avenues (societies), welcomed the Gautam Budh Nagar MP, Mahesh Sharma with a long list of works a couple of days back.

“Lack of bus service is a major problem for us. Two buses have been started recently but these are not enough. Many people, whose offices are in Noida sectors 61, 62, 63 or in Ghaziabad, are totally dependent on auto-rickshaws. One has to change three auto-rickshaws to reach Sector 63 or Indirapuram in Ghaziabad,” said Manish Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida West.

Residents of Gaur City 1 (Gaur City is divided into two parts - Gaur City 1 and 2) demanded that a foot-over-bridge near the gate of the society so that they can cross the road without putting their lives in risk. They complained that street lights outside the societies are not functioning properly.

Residents said that mobile and chain snatching incidents have become a daily nuisance in the area. Women and senior citizens do not feel safe while moving out of their homes.

“We have a long list of demands including a police chowki which has become a need of the hour. We have heard that a police chowki will be set up near Gaur City 1 but we are waiting for it,” said Punit Kohli, a resident of Gaur City.

Burglars break into 3 flats in Panchsheel Greens 2, Greater Noida West

Three flats in Panchsheel Greens 2, a high-rise in Greater Noida West, were burgled on Thursday when their occupants were out of the house. The owners of the flats said that thieves broke the locks of the main gate and stole cash and jewellery.

The first incident happened in flat number A5/305. Abhay Kumar, owner of the flat, told City Spidey that he and his wife had left for work at 10:30 am but when they returned in the evening around 6 pm, they found the main door open. Greater Noida News

Abhay further said that jewellery was missing from his flat including a necklace, a gold chain, rings and an earring.

The second theft incident occurred in flat number A4/405 when their owners were out of town. Ashish Chanda, a relative of the owners said, “My father-in-law and mother-in-law live here but they are travelling. I had last visited the house on Monday evening when everything seemed fine. But today when I reached the flat, I found the front door open, and cash and jewellery missing from the cupboard.”

Husain Jafar, in-charge of maintenance of the society, said, “CCTVs are installed in balconies, lifts and various other places in the society. We are looking at the CCTV footage to identify the miscreants.”

FIR is yet to be registered for the burglaries.

Noida: Man files complaint against fraudulent transaction from debit card

A resident, Arvind Kumar, filed a police complaint on Tuesday that Rs 20,000 was debited fraudulently from his account when he was having his debit card in his pocket.

According to police, the victim lived in Sector 60 and worked with a private company in Sector 63 of Noida. The victim has filed the complaint at the Sector-58 police station.

“At around 2 pm on Wednesday night, I received two messages on mobile phone mentioning that Rs 20,000 was debited from my account. I immediately called customer care. They confirmed that the money was withdrawn through the debit card. Soon, I got the card blocked,” said Arvind.

“Then, I went to the bank and asked for the statement of the account. I found that the debit card was used for online shopping. When I complained to the bank official, he asked me to complain at the police station,” he added.

Pankaj Rai, SHO of Sector 58 police station said that police lodged an FIR under IPC section of 420 (Fraud) against the unknown person.

“Police team will also take the help from cyber police to solve the case. Soon, police will get some lead in the case,” Rai added.

Noida buyers can now own a flat, even without registry

Spelling respite for hapless thousands, home buyers can now take ownership of the flat without registry with the help of an agreement with the builder known as “Agreement of Lease”.

The new agreement will be charted out according to conditions that have been laid down in the existing builder-buyer agreement. At the same time, the registry department will include some new conditions that will prevent builders from taking arbitrary decisions in future.

Residents need to possess ID proof, possession letter, and builder-buyer agreement copy and passport photos for the new agreement.

Expressing happiness at the development, Sumit Kumar, a buyer in Amrapali group, said, “We will at least have ownership of the flat — so we can start living. I have the possession copy and other related documents, and I will soon apply for this.”

According to officials of the district administration, residents can decide the date and time of the meeting with the builder. And if the builder tries to postpone the meeting for over a month, the buyer can make a written complaint to the DM.

The district administration will initiate action upon receiving the complaint.

However, the respite comes with a condition — those buyers who don’t have the possession letter are not eligible for the lease agreement, confirmed Vir Sen, sub-registrar of Noida.

But buyers still can’t have completion certificates or occupancy certificates because builders owe Rs 30,000 crore to Noida Authority — so registry continues to remain a question.

Noida: Man duped on online marketplace; files police complaint

A 22-year-old man, Kailash Chandra, was duped by a man claiming to be an army man on the online marketplace OLX. The victim claimed that despite paying money for the iPhone, which was advertised on the OLX website, he did not get the phone.

As per the police, the accused told the victim that he was an army man. The victim has complained at the Sector 39 police station in Noida.

Kailash said that he saw an iPhone ad on the OLX, for which a young man named Ravi spoke to him. “Ravi told me that he is an army man and posted in Delhi Cantt and he wants to sell his iPhone for Rs 9, 000,” he added.

“On Sunday morning, Ravi called me and informed that after paying half the price of the iPhone, the phone would be sent to me through courier. After which, I sent him Rs 5,000 through Paytm. Then Ravi asked for security money of Rs 2000 which I also sent him,” said Kailash.

“A courier boy rang me and asked me to talk to Ravi on the next day. When I talked to him, he again asked me to transfer Rs 11,372 for the Apple ID for phone and courier charge. He said that after the delivery of the phone, Rs 13,000 will be returned,” he added.

I also deposited this amount in his wallet. Then, the courier boy called and demanded Rs 1500 for the phone delivery. I said to him that I don’t have the money now. On this, the delivery boy said that if he does not give this amount, then he will deliver the phone and Rs 13,000,” he said.

Kailash then asked the army man to return the money. Since then, the military man and delivery boy stopped receiving calls. The victim complained to the police after this.

Uday Pratap Singh, SHO of Sector 39 police station said that the police have lodged a complaint under the IPC Section of 420 (Fraud) and we will take help from cyber cell to solve the case.

Relief for parents: Noida’s Cambridge School, Bal Bharti to adjust fee hike

Acting upon Noida district administration’s notice, two schools in the city have decided to adjust the fee hike charged from the parents earlier in the next fee cycle starting January.

The managements of Cambridge School in Sector 27 and Bal Bharati School in Sector 21 have confirmed that they will adjust the excess amount charged as fee hike in the next month’s fee.

Cambridge School has confirmed that it will adjust Rs 17,000 for each student in the next fee charged. Bal Bharati School is yet to confirm the amount to be adjusted.

The district administration had earlier sent a notice to 14 schools over the issue of fee hike. With two schools falling in line, the parents are now hopeful that the rest of the schools will also either return the increased fee or adjust it in the next month's charges.

According to District Inspector of School (DIOS), PK Upadhyay, both the schools will adjust about Rs 6 crore in the next month's fees which they had collected as an additional charge from the parents of students.

Meanwhile, the parents’ associations and district administration said that they plan to hold further meetings with other schools in January to implement the Fee Regulatory Bill 2018-19.

Upadhyay also said that DM BN Singh had earlier held a meeting with the principals and the parent associations of all the private schools in the district and asked them to implement the bill. “Even after that, the schools did not reduce the fees. After this the administration had issued a notice to 14 schools,” he added.

Speaking to City Spidey, a parent of Bal Bharati School who did not want to be named, said that the news has come as a relief for the parents. “It’s high time that all the schools start implementing the rules and not increase the fee arbitrarily.”

Noida police arrests four persons for selling marijuana

The Noida police on Tuesday arrested four persons including a minor for allegedly selling marijuana outside schools, colleges and other public places. The cops informed that all of them were given protection by a senior journalist in Noida. Noida News

They were identified as Vijay Pathak from Mainpuri; Kishore Kumar, a resident of Sector 9 (Noida); Peeyush from Banda and a minor from Noida.

Police also recovered 30 kg of marijuana worth Rs 10 lakh, Rs 25,750 in cash, packing machine and Tata Zest vehicle from the accused.

According to the police officials, the gang was operated by Hema and her husband. Hema was the kingpin of the gang. Both of them were arrested by Noida police on Monday (December 24). She was operating the illegal business from her residence in JJ Colony in Sector 18 for the last ten years.

The miscreants smuggled the marijuana from Ghaziabad and Bihar. “During the police investigation, it was also revealed that they used to sell the marijuana near some high rise housing societies in sectors 74, 76 and others," police said.

“The gang was protected by Lalit Mohan, who claims himself as a senior journalist and a resident of Sector 27 in Noida. He is absconding as of now. He used to take some money as a share and guide them. He used to know Hema for a long time,” Manoj Pant, SHO of Sector 20 Police Station said.

Pant also said that police also recovered 70 packets of smack weighing one gram each, an electronic weighing machine, 10 kg of packing polythene, one packet sealing machine and one polythene warming machine.

“The drugs were being sold to the locals in the nearby areas. The marijuana was sealed in two different packets of Rs 200 (5 grams) and Rs 100 (2.5 grams) and then distributed,” Pant added.

I’puram: GDA decides to withdraw its counter affidavit against FedAOA PIL

After receiving flak, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has decided to withdraw its counter affidavit submitted in the Allahabad High Court against the public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Federation of Apartment Owners Association (FedAOA). The PIL spoke about the authority’s inability to check illegal commercial establishments running in residential areas in Indirapuram.
 Indirapuram News
Santosh Rai, secretary of GDA said, “The authority will file a fresh counter affidavit in the court soon.”

GDA, in the affidavit, had alleged that the FedAOA has vested interest and ulterior motive behind the PIL. Indirapuram’s FedAOA, who had filed the PIL, had alleged that the GDA was unable to contain commercialization and operations of unauthorized shops in residential areas.

In the affidavit, GDA had alleged that “the present PIL has been filed by the petitioner’s society just to create pressure upon the owners of illegal commercial units so that the petitioner’s society members may run their business in Indirapuram smoothly and without hindrance.”

“The members of the petitioner’s society are also running commercial units in Indirapuram, therefore the petitioner has its own interest in the petition. The PIL filed by petitioner is not for public interest while it’s for personal and private interest of the petitioner,” the affidavit read further.

GDA also sought dismissal of the PIL. “The litigation is not maintainable and is liable to be dismissed with heavy cost.”

The GDA had filed the affidavit after the court in its order dated October 24 had asked the authority and district magistrate (DM) to file a status report regarding the steps taken to shut such establishments.

FedAOA had filed a PIL in the court seeking seizure of all commercial establishments running in residential areas of Indirapuram. The plea asserted that commercial operations are hampering the peaceful life of citizens and creating traffic menace in the area.

Alok Kumar, petitioner and president of FedAOA, rubbished the allegations. “This is the height of hypocrisy. The authority has totally failed in checking these illegal encroachments and they are blaming us for having vested interest. We will file a rejoinder next month when the court opens,” Kumar said.

The PIL had also alleged GDA for being involved in and shielding unauthorized commercial establishments which has led to chaos in the area. “Look at all the roads in Indirapuram! We see commercial activities at every nook and corner of the city, which, in fact, was developed only for residential purpose,” Kumar said.

Noida's Gaur Grandeur's power snapped over irregularities; AOA demands readings

Residents of Gaur Grandeur, a high rise in Sector 119, Noida, have been sent a notice by the power department, alleging massive manipulation of the meter reading.

The department also slapped a fine to the tune of Rs 1.16 crore for “disturbing the meter reading for 540 days”. Noida News

When the AOA of the society refused to deposit the said amount, the power department snapped power on Monday from 2 pm. The AOA then deposited a portion of the fine (Rs 24 lakh), and power came back on in the evening at 8 pm.

According to AOA members of the society, they received a notice on November 26. Thereafter, they visited the power office several times, demanding proof for the reading manipulations for the said number of days. However, the power officials provided the meter reading for only 22 days. Surprisingly, according to MRI (meter reading instrument), “disturbance” was recorded only for seven days.

AOA general secretary, who didn’t want to be named, complained, “Instead of giving evidence to the AOA, the officers of electricity department broke the seal of the meter reader, and on Monday, snapped the power supply of the society. We will take legal action if things are not resolved soon."

Manoj Kumar, an official in the power department, said, “The bill is generated according to the Meter Reading Instrument (MRI) reading. The consumers are entitled to view the report. We provided the same to Gaur Grandeur AOA.”

Despite govt directives, bio-mass burning continues to keep out chil

Last year, during winters, Delhi government had issued directives to curb the practice of burning biomass to keep off chill. The officials were asked to ensure that electric heaters were provided at all night shelters and guard rooms across government offices. It had also directed the administration to rope in RWAs to provide heaters to their guard rooms to stop the practice of burning of garbage and biomass.

But a year on, nothing has changed.

The RWAs were not properly involved, and the government, too, has failed to provide heaters at night shelters and guard rooms of government offices.

Strangely, City Spidey found out most officials from the civic bodies were unaware about any such government directives.

A member of the managing committee of Surya Apartments in Sector 6, Brijesh Singh, said, “We have given a heater to our guards, but I was not aware about any such directive. The administration must spread the message around so that the use of biomass is discouraged. Providing a heater is not that big a thing for any RWA.”

As winter intensifies, across North India, there’s a spike in garbage burning.

In Dwarka, with more than 400 societies, including DDA pockets, only 20 percent societies have provided heaters in the guard room.

A resident of Sector 4, Dinesh Singh, said, “On the direction of the SC-appointed EPCA, civic agencies last year said they were carrying out a drive against the RWAs — prosecute those found guilty of allowing garbage burning. But I don’t think they have succeeded — never heard of any RWA being fined.”

The RWAs, on the other hand, argue that the corporation is not serious about the problem. The civic body, they added, should conduct a proper awareness programme and periodic meetings to see any ground impact.

Adviser of the managing committee of Shivalik Apartments in Sector 6, PK Chopra, said, “Seldom has any RWA or society management given out heaters to guards. It is mostly done by the residents. Agencies must ensure implementation from RWAs — otherwise biomass or garbage burning will not stop.”

City Spidey spoke to one of the SDMC officials. He confirmed that they are indeed doing a recce in the area to check whether waste burning is happening or not. He also said that challans have been issued against those found burning waste in the open.

Here's how Indirapuram paid ode to the hills of Uttarakhand...

What’s the common thread between Bengalis and Uttarakhandis living in Indirapuram? Both migrated from their native place and zealously guard the vestiges of their culture. While Bengalis have Durga Pujo, Pahadis of Uttarakhand organise a five-day annual mela, Maha Kauhthigv, to celebrate their identity — and the home they have left behind in the hills.

Parvati Sanskriti Sansthan organises the mela every year around Christmas. “We started in 2011, and this year, it’s our eighth edition,” said Rajendra Chauhan, convener of the mela.

“The mela is supported by generous donations of Uttarkhandis living in the area. Over 50 percent of the population belongs to Uttarakhand,” emphasised Jagat Rawat, a resident of Vaishali, and president of the organising committee.

This year, the mela started from Friday (December 21) and will conclude on Tuesday (December 25).

The performing stage depicts Jageswar temples, a group of over 100 Hindu temples dated between 7th and 12th century near Almora, in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand.

The entry has been kept free.

The artistes performing in the mela have been exclusively called from Uttarakhand — and no local artistes are to perform, confirmed Rawat.

Speaking on the relevance of this annual extravaganza, Rawat said, “We want to showcase the pahadi culture. People migrate from their native places in search of better lives and grow distant with their culture. This event is an effort to create awareness and a sense of belonging.”

And residents have one more reason to smile when the air is already so festive!

An elderly couple from Shipra Sun City visiting the mela gushed out, “In these five days, even being so far away, we feel at home. We have been coming here since its inception.”

Against the backdrop of thumping folk music of Uttarakhand, there are stalls serving traditional delicacies — in fact, one such stall, serving the traditional vegetarian thali, witnessed the highest footfall.

And if you are looking to buy sartorial elegance of the hills, there are stalls selling pahadi attires too.

Miss Uttarakhand 2018, Prabha Goswami, was honoured at the event for making the state proud. In her address to the audience, she highlighted several issues plaguing the state, such as lack of job opportunities. And she also emphasised on providing a support system to girls — to allow them to aspire. “I am from a village and achieving this status was a huge uphill task for me. I would like to ask all the parents to provide maximum support to their girls. They will make you proud one day,” she urged.

MP Mahesh Sharma raises the issue of multi-point connection with power minister

Continued criticism from all corners over UP government’s new policy of conversion of single-point power connection to multi-point in high rises of GB Nagar has prompted Union minister Dr Mahesh Sharma, also the local MP, to write to power minister in UP government, Shrikant Sharma.

The development comes in the wake of a meeting that Dr Sharma had with a group of residents from several high-rises.

The letter from Dr Mahesh Sharma

The letter from Dr Sharma said: “The notification issued regarding conversion of single-point power connection into multi point is putting financial burden on them. They are demanding amendment of this notification.”

Residents also said during the possession of flats, they had been charged hefty amount by builders for power connection, including infrastructure cost, and therefore, the government should not impose a fresh financial burden for the same. Noida News

Talking to City Spidey, Vikash Kumar, a resident, said, “We are not against the conversion policy. In fact, it has been one of our major demands from the government, but we can’t be made to bear the financial burden for what we have already paid.”

Residents' group under the banner of Noida Extension Flat Owners’ Welfare Association (NEFOWA) have decided to meet the UP Power minister in the coming days. “We have Dr Sharma’s letter, and now will go to meet the power minister next week,” Kumar added.

For the last few weeks, this issue has been the talking point for most high-rises in GB Nagar. The situation turned critical when the developer of Gaur City in Greater Noida West issued notices to residents to say that the new infrastructure would cost nearly Rs 60,000 per flat owner.

Residents were also taken aback at the rush with which the Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) wanted to implement the policy. As per the reports, Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI) has opposed the proposal, saying the builder has no business setting up individual meters in cases where the apartments have already been handed over.

Amidst all the controversy, the NPCL started a survey of societies to know whether or not a particular society required new infrastructure. The survey generated negligible response from all societies.

Septuagenarian arrested for molesting 8-year-old girl in Indirapuram

A 75-year-old senior citizen, Vashu Bhargava, was arrested by police on the charges of molesting an 8-year-old girl belonging to the same high rise society in Indirapuram on Tuesday.

The girl has alleged that Bharagava assaulted her physically and verbally inside the lift of the building a day before the arrest.

“The incident happened on Monday when the victim and her 11-year-old friend took lift from the ground floor. According to the victim, the accused touched her inappropriately and also showed indecent gestures towards her,” police said.

“Initially, the man (accused) tried to trap her when both the girls were playing in the common area in front of the lift. After being unsuccessful in his attempt, he stalked them in the lift,” alleged father of the victim.

The father also disclosed that the victim told him that the accused had molested her on multiple occasions in the past as well.

“He has done this act several times. My daughter was frightened to disclose his actions. Even in this incident, it was her friend who informed me about it,” victim’s father said.

The police has booked the accused under section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), section 354b (Criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), and section 7 & 8 of POCSO (Protection of Child against Sexual Offences) Act.

The accused was arrested and presented in District court of Ghaziabad on Tuesday. The court has sent the accused in 14 days of judicial custody.

The accused is a native of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh

Societies near markets face problems due to opening of chimneys, sanitary pipes

The Residents Welfare Associations (RWA) of societies adjacent to the Mixed Land Use (MLU) markets are busy writing letters and doing complaints to the civic bodies like Municipal Corporation and DDA about the problems they are facing.

They are complaining that the market people are violating the laws by making chimney, exhaust fans, AC compressors and toilet sanitary pipe lines towards the society premises. Due to such things, people living in the rows in front of the market wall are facing a tough time every day.

General Secretary of RWA of DDA SFS Sector 5, Mahesh Gupta said, “Almost every day, there is a fight and hot argument between residents and market people and builders. They have created nuisance by opening sanitary pipes towards our pocket.”

“We complained to DDA and they said that the maintenance is under SDMC. We complained to SDMC and they said that the challan is done. We have absolutely no idea what is happening. Meanwhile, these violations are increasing,” he added.

The problem is persistent at sectors 4, 5, 6, 10, 11 and 12. In these societies, flats, which are just adjacent to the boundary walls of the market, have problems due to hot air, smoke and garbage. Residents also alleged that some of the shop owners have opened the window of toilets and kitchen also towards the pocket breaching the privacy of the society.

Former president of RWA of Rihayashi Apartments, Ved Prakash said, “The chimney and other such things are dangerous too. During this year’s storm, our society was the worst affected as those chimneys fell down in our premises. During summer, residents have to hot air because of exhaust fans and AC compressors installed towards our society.”

According DDA officials for the MLUs, any alteration can only be possible when the whole building plan is revised by DDA. Also opening of windows and installation of chimney and exhaust fans have been done in such way that it is a violation of building bylaws. On repeated complaints of the RWA of Dwarka Kunj Apartments Sector 12 an inspection was done by DDA in 2011 but no effective measures were taken by them.

A member of RWA, Dwarka Kunj Apartments, GB Joshi said, “On our repeated complaints and correspondence, an inspection was done in December 2011 in the market adjacent to our society by the then DDA executive engineer. He wrote about the misuse to the director building and enforcement to take action but nothing was done. They do come on complaints but do nothing. DDA and MCD both are responsible for our problem.”

Chief Engineer of DDA, RK Singh said that he will take the subject into concern and do the needful. On the other hand SDMC officials too assured to look into the subject of their jurisdiction and take action against violation.

Why having feeding spots for strays is not enough?

In view of Delhi High Court guidelines that deemed feeding and taking care of area strays legal, the managing committee of East End Apartments in Mayur Vihar Phase I had earmarked four spots for stray feeding. But the plan hasn’t worked out as well as it should have.

Here’s why…

As reported in City Spidey on November 1, the idea of have feeding spots was executed with the assistance of some residents and under the supervision of an official associated with Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI). The aim was to minimize stray-human conflict. The society has about 45 strays living within the premises. The committee had also made clear that dog feeders not complying with the guidelines would face punitive action.

Explaining why the whole plan failed to take off, BK Singh, president of the managing committee, said, “Dogs living in a particular area do not want to go out of their territory. A particular group belongs to a particular territory, and they get aggressive if another group enters that area. So dog feeders were facing difficulty to taking them out of their territory, where they had been living from several years. It is in dog’s nature to defend their area.”

The managing committee, therefore, had to step in. It set up a three-member committee of elected managing members — K Pasupathy, Aparesh Mukhopadhyay and S Sivaraman — to look into the issue, and look at alternative ways to deal with the strays.

Speaking to City Spidey, Pasupathy said, “With fixing feeding spots, we thought we would have a system in place that would ultimately reduce cases of dog bites, but clearly it did not work out. So, now we are taking other measures to contain the stray problem.”

As a first measure, the committee on Tuesday vaccinated as many 21 stray dogs with the help of dog feeders.

“At present, 45 stray dogs are living in the society — 17 were vaccinated some 15 days backs and 21 more on Tuesday. The remaining would be vaccinated in the next round. The vaccination is being done by a vet, and the expenses are being borne by the managing committee.”

The managing committee is also planning to put cattle guards at the society’s gates to prohibit the entry of more stray dogs. The idea is being discussed, but expenses are a concern. “We are discussing the proposal — whether the results will justify the cost. Hopefully, we would be able to take final decision on it soon. Around six years back, we had tried a sound ray system at the gates to discourage strays from entering. But it proved to be a failure,” S Sivaraman added.

To this, K Pasupathi added, “We have decided to invite AWBI official again to help us in finding some alternatives.”

Dwarka: Constructions continue despite ban; high pollution levels persist

To check the high dust pollution levels, the administration has directed to stop all the construction works for two days in Delhi-NCR. But, there was no impact of it on the pollution levels as works were going on fearlessly inside the societies and at the large construction sites in Dwarka.

In Dwarka extension, works were going on with the permission of Cooperative Group Housing Societies (CGHS). Unauthorised constructions were also continued in DDA pockets. At both the places, labourers were seen working at the construction sites. Dwarka News

Neither the managements of the society nor the contractors or labourers were aware of the direction. It seemed that the agencies, responsible for issuing the direction, had failed to implement it completely.

Jitendra Kumar, a resident of Sector 4 said, “Nobody cares about the pollution. The work was not stopped even in CGHS. This is an irony and helplessness of the system.”

Dwarka is one of the most polluted areas of Delhi where dust pollution is highest. Earlier, it was asked by the DPCC and EPCA to the civic bodies like DDA and SDMC to check the pollution completely by taking proper measures and stopping construction. But, nothing has happened.

Sharmila Das, a resident of Kautilya Apartments said, “In our society, construction works are on. They are unauthorised and also disobeying the law of pollution control board too. This shows the weakness and lack of accountability from the side of civic agencies.”

Earlier, from November 1 to 10, there was a ban on any type of activities which cause pollution. All type of constructions works were ordered to be stopped and any work causing dust was not allowed in the area. Vinay Singh, a resident of Sector 13 said, “It didn’t happen that time too in an effective way and at many places, constructions were on.”

People said that the RWAs in DDA pockets and the managements in the CGHS are responsible for the violation of any such norms given by the administration to curb pollution.

But RWAs in DDA pockets said that the construction works were unauthorised and it was not in their hands to stop it. On the other hand, managements of the CGHS societies said that the work going on in the societies were under contractors and they were responsible for any violation.

“No effect of administrative direction seen in the area.  There must be seriousness from the side of authorities, said Seema Gupta, a resident of Sector 5.

On the subject, a senior official from SDMC said that the action was being taken against the violators and further it would be taken into serious concern if any violation was there.

Noida Authority to start construction of feeder bus shelters near Aqua Line

Soon, the NMRC will open Aqua Line for the public but the Authority has not been able to construct a single shelter for feeder buses running in nearby locations. Now, the Authority will start the construction and it will get completed in at least six months.

NMRC Executive Director PD Upadhyay said that the Noida Authority has to make shelters in the city only. For this, the letter has already been. However, the work is yet to be commenced.

SC Mishra, Deputy General Manager, Work Circle-2 of the Authority, told that a few days back NMRC has given a letter to make bus shelters in 157 places in the city.

After this, a consultant company will be hired to make these shelters. Expressions of Interest were sought from companies for this. After the tender finalises, the company will start working on it.

Mishra said that it will take at least six months to make them. If NMRC had earlier asked for it then it would have been completed by now. Now the letter has been given to the Authority's CEO, Alok Tandon. He handed over the responsibility to other officials.

Upadhyay said that there will be a board meeting on December 28. The fares will be decided at the meeting. Then, a date for the formal inauguration will be decided.

RESIDENT SPEAK: 'Plastic menace continues to hold Dwarka in grip'

When you walk around, you would be surprised to see open violation of laws regarding dumping of plastic, especially in front of markets and malls. Every day, during my morning walks, I take photographs and share it on various WhatsApp groups, Twitter and with authorities. They do take notice, and the spots are cleaned up — but things go back to being the same in a few days.

While use of plastic is being legally discouraged, its dumping in public places violates laws pertaining to solid waste management and also municipal law. But despite the fact, civic bodies have failed to control this practice, and have it stopped permanently.

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) claims changes have been introduced in the system, and waste is being managed more efficiently, but the outcome is not visible on ground.

A couple of days back, I took pictures of one such site in front of Sector 22 mall, and posted it on the group of the area councillor. To my surprise, after some time, a picture of the same place was posted on the group by one of the officials — and it had been cleaned up.

Such practices should become more established, and not carried out only when brought to the dock. But anyways, that was good work!

Delhi police files FIR against builder of RG Residency, Today Homes

Delhi police registered an FIR against the builder, Today Homes, on Tuesday after a group of buyers lodged a complaint against it.

Buyers of RG Residency, a high rise project in Sector 135, Noida, lodged the complaint with Delhi police at Barakhamba police station.

“This case is registered with orders of the metropolitan magistrate. We initially complained to the Patiala court, Delhi, where the magistrate ordered us to register an FIR," a buyer said.

Vikas Singh,  anothe buyer, said he had booked his flat in 2012 and made 70 percent of the payment. The builder promised to deliver the flats by mid-2017, but nothing happened.

"I took a loan and help from my father and then booked this flat. I am also paying an EMI from my salary, and yet the builder has no intention of giving possession,” Singh added.

Police registered the case under IPC Sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) and  420 (deals with cheating) against the directors and CEO of Today Homes.

Dwarka: DDA refuses to walk the talk when it comes to society’s maintenance

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) had allotted flats in Samridhi Apartments with a promise to maintain the society for the next thirty years. They had promised the buyers about the maintenance in the booklet which was provided to the home buyers. They had also charged all the individual buyers for the maintenance of the society.

But, the residents are saying a different story. They are completely agitated about the ignorance of the DDA towards the maintenance of the society. As per the RWA, the DDA is completely lacking in the maintenance of the society.

President of the RWA, Darshana Rani said, “We paid more than Rs 5 lakh each for the maintenance of the society. But, we feel cheated when we make the complaint and they say that the particular thing was not mentioned in the given list. It hurts that we are being ignored even after paying for the maintenance.”

“The malfunction in the lifts and seepage from overhead tanks are some of the problems that we are facing. We have written a letter to them but they said that the maintenance of the tank was not on the list. Tanks are part of the terrace. Since they had promised maintenance of the terrace, they should look into it,” said Rani.

DDA in its booklet of the scheme mentioned that they would look after the maintenance activities like grit wash, whitewash, plaster, the railing of stairs and common area, flooring of stairs and common area, roof and mumty, sewerage and drainage, repair of window roof and balcony roof etc. It is also mentioned that repair of drainage and sewerage and the other such lines would be done once in every three years.

But, according to the RWA, the DDA has not done any of the mentioned maintenance works as of now. On the other hand, they showed that the sanitary pipes were not even fitted at many places since the beginning.

“We were compelled to shift here even if the society was not fully complete. We asked them about the pending works and they did some work but couldn’t finish them. Now, iron fittings for construction are lying in open there. Such kind of callous approach they are having,” said Rani.

Residents said that the DDA has not lived up to the promise of maintenance. Vice president of RWA, Asha Kochar said, “We face problems on daily basis. When we complain about it, they cite technical constraints. We don’t understand it as they have themselves mentioned maintenance activities in the booklet.”

The RWA members also furnished their appreciation letter which they sent to the DDA when their engineers visited the society and assured to resolve the issues. “We thought that DDA would solve our problems but it is now more than a year since that visit and nothing happened,” said Kochar.

On the subject, Vice Chairman of DDA, Tarun Kapoor assured to look into the matter. He said that DDA was preparing a list of items so that there would be a clear picture of what needs to be done.

Why open gyms of Noida are a sorry picture...

Noida Authority has opened up open gyms in every sector. So far, 25 sector parks have been facilitated with gym equipment. But unfortunately, maintenance is missing.

The gym at B Block Park, Sector 31, is a case in point.

Dinesh Singh, a resident, said, “The gym was built just a month ago, and the machines are already showing signs of trouble. The Authority needs to pay attention to maintenance as well.”

There are problems in the equipment such as the step twister, double cross walker and others. The nuts and bolts are coming loose.

City Spidey spoke to IP Singh, deputy director of horticulture, Noida Authority, the department responsible for the project. “Whenever we receive such complaints, we forward them to the company that installed the equipment and is responsible for its maintenance. We will look into the case of Sector 31. We will visit the park soon and resolve the situation,” Singh said.

Questioned in Amrapali flat theft, maid says police physically assaulted her

Questioned by police for her alleged involvement in the Amrapali Village flat burglary, a woman working as the housemaid there has accused the police of physically assaulting her during the interrogation. She also alleged that false accusations by her employer have left her traumatized and insulted her.

On Friday, over 25 women, most of them working as domestic help in the society, gathered at the main gate early in the morning and protested till 2 pm.

The woman was let off because of lack of evidence against her. On Monday, over 12 lakhs in cash and jewellery were stolen from a flat in Indirapuram’s Amrapali Village. The police had detained the maid as a suspect in the case.

Speaking to City Spidey, the woman said that male police staff beat her up during the interrogation. “I repeatedly asked them to search my house, but they did not listen and started beating me,” she alleged.

The police, however, has denied the allegation. “All the time, she was accompanied by a female staff. We did not do any such thing,” the investigating officer of the case said.

The protesting group said that they want the owner of the flat to apologise to the help as they had pointed fingers at her without any proof.  “This baseless suspicion has left the woman traumatised,” one of the women participating in the protest said.

The housemaid said that the allegation will affect her finding work in the future. “I’m a poor woman. The baseless allegation has brought me a bad name and now people will hesitate in employing me.”

Meanwhile, the RWA of Amrapali Village society called the protest an “unnecessary ruckus”. “If they have a problem with how the police is handling the case, they should protest outside the police station. What can we do about it?” said Maheshwaran Nair, secretary of RWA.

The residents complained that the protest created a nuisance. “They weren’t even allowing us to drive outside the society. They had called many people, who don’t even work in the society, to protest with them,” a resident claimed.

Noida police arrests IT professionals for vandalising PCR van

Noida police on Saturday arrested two IT professionals for abusing neighbours and vandalising a PCR van. When police reached their residence, both of them were found in a drunken state.

The police took action against them after receiving complaints from the RWA members of the society.

Both of them also physically assaulted the police officer who went to arrest them. When these professionals were taken to the Phase 3 police station, they started abusing the police officers.  Both of them are presently under police custody.

As per the police, the professionals were identified as Rishabh Tripathi (31) and Amit Dixit (26). Rishabh is a son of a retired IAS officer and hail from Allahabad. Amit belongs to Lucknow.

“Both of them came back from office at 3 am and started drinking at 4 am. One of their colleagues also accompanied them. But, after few drinks, he went back to his house,” said police.

Residents informed that both of them started shouting and abusing neighbours in the morning. When the neighbours asked them to stop making noises, both the professionals started abusing.

“On Saturday around 9 am, they come outside after finishing their drink session. They started abusing residents and people who were passing their house. Some heated talks were exchanged between the residents and the accused. When they did not stop, the RWA intervened in the matter,” residents said.

“Around 10 am, the residents dialled 100 and informed the police. But, when the police reached the spot, Amit and Rishabh did not cooperate with the police. They also abused the police officer,” ShivKumar Tiwari, RWA President said.

“They lived in a rented flat in the sector. Police verification was not done by the owner. The RWA will release a circular to all house owners to verify the people before giving them flats,” Tiwari added.

Akhilesh Tripathi, SHO of Phase-3 said that we registered a case under IPC section of 151 (Knowingly joining or continuing in assembly of five or more persons after it has been commanded to disperse).

Frequent use of service lanes by vehicles makes pedestrians unsafe in Dwarka

A senior citizen, Ravi Jaitley always becomes extra cautious whenever he takes the service lane in front of his society. He is always in fear that some vehicles might hit him. His reason for fear is the constant use of the service lane by the private and commercials vehicles which are expected to ply on the main roads.

Jaitley has been raising this matter to the administration. “You cannot walk freely on the service lane because you might get hit if not alert. This narrow lane is being used by vehicles of Master Plan Road 201.”

The use of service lane by the private and commercial vehicles of master plan roads is a common thing in Dwarka. Sectors like 7, 9, 4, 13, 14, 19, 22 and 23 are suffering from such practices making the service lanes dangerous for the people living in the societies along them.

Mostly the service lanes are used to avoid the red lights and take a shortcut. Fast moving cabs and school buses can often be seen using such roads. Some accidents too were reported in these service lanes.

General Secretary of Federation of RWAs in Sector 9, MK Singh said, “Such vehicles are causing chaos and sometimes accidents too. Once, a lady was hit by a fast-moving school bus in the service lane near Ganpati Apartments. The collision incidents are common on these roads. To avoid heavy traffic in peak hours, the service lanes are being used causing a serious threat to the lives of pedestrians.”

The subject has been raised several times by the RWAs and managements of the societies in police-public meetings. Residents asked the police to check the problem time to time and do the needful.

A resident of Jagran Apartments, Pramila Malik said “There must be a permanent solution as the service lanes are for convenience and not the chaos. The internal roads in Sector 22 are affected due to fast-moving cabs. Cabs which are using the service lanes are also taking the internal roads as a route which makes the roads near parks and schools dangerous.”

One of the traffic police officials said that they were prosecuting the vehicles violating the rule of speeding and wrong side driving. He also said that the department took the matter into concern and initiatives were being taken.

Decreasing wind speed shoots up AQI to alarming levels in Noida

Due to the slowing down of the wind speed, the air quality index has again reached the alarming levels of 434 in Noida on Sunday. On December 11, the air quality was recorded at 420.

Regional officer of the pollution department, Dr Anil Singh said that the speed of the air is slow these days. The temperature is also declining. Due to this, the dust particles are not able to go upwards.

The visibility also decreased to 500 meters on Sunday morning. The air quality index had gradually decreased after December 11. After December 12, the index had reached 188 due to lightning at night. Noida Air Quality Index

Now, with the slowing down of the wind, there is a possibility of further increase in the air quality index.

The district administration is also taking many steps to check the rising pollution levels. They are carrying out inspections at many places. The officials can also arrest people for violating norms.

Noida Authority had conducted sprinkling of water. The district administration is also alert.

Emotions run high as army personnel pay homage to martyrs with pomp and splendor

The glory of Shaheed Smarak Park went few notches higher on Saturday morning as nearly three hundred serving and retired officers of Army, Navy and Air Force, dressed in their respective uniforms, assembled to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.

It was an event driven by emotions where the officers, who graced the occasion, remembered the heroes of the nation with wet eyes. They recalled the heroics of the martyrs with all pride. Each martyr’s family members were called to lay the wreath at Saheed Smarak located in the middle of the park.

Many retired soldiers, who were above the age of 80, wore their uniforms with great respect. The wreath were also laid by 20 family members of gallant martyrs, civil dignitaries, the officials of Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, defence personnel and veterans. Students of Army Public School and New Disha school of Noida along with school staff members also marked the occasion.

Open drain a virtual trap near SG Grand, Raj Ngr Extn

A large, open drain outside SG Grand and River Heights, residential societies in Rajnagar Extension, is giving the residents sleepless nights as they fear that an untoward incident is just waiting to happen.

The drain has been left uncovered from River Heights till SG Grand along NH-58. Though a narrow 2-feet wall has been raised around it to distinguish it from adjacent lanes, residents feel the drain still poses a grave threat to pedestrians and motorists.

“We are afraid for our kids. In the last six months, two dogs and a cat fell to their death in the drain. Are the authorities waiting for something worse to happen?” said Loveleen Bhatnagar, a resident of the SG society.

Just recently, an eight-year-old girl had died in Indirapuram after falling into an open drain. And the residents here are worried that the situation can invite a similar accident.

The residents say that the clogged drain has also become a health hazard as it serves a breeding ground for diseases causing bacteria.

The foul smell emanating from the drain has made the entire area smell of garbage. Pramod Dhanked, a resident of River Heights, said the stench is worst around River Heights Complex (a market complex between the two societies). “It’s difficult to even stand there.”

He also blamed the residents and street hawkers for the mess. “Despite having installed sewage treatment plant (STP), many societies discharge sewer water directly into the drain. The street hawkers operating along the roadside also throw garbage in the drain,” Dhanked added.

The residents say they have complained to the authorities several times about the situation but no action has been taken so far.

“When we complained to the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), they asked us to contact the Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN). The GNN, however, says the area hasn’t been handed over to them yet. How can they shy away from the responsibility of covering an open drain?” he added.

Meanwhile, Gajendra Arya, president of Federation of AOA, Raj Nagar Extension, said that apart from covering the drain, a reflector should also be installed on the parapet walls. “It will help motorists locate the drain and maintain a safe distance from it,” he added.

NCLAT declares insolvency of Paramount company illegal; flat buyers relieved

The residents of Paramount Emotions got big relief as the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) declared the insolvency order illegal. They were deeply affected by the insolvency order which had halted the registration of flats and maintenance activities within the premises of the society.

The NCLAT hearing the matter on Thursday stated, “In view of fact that the parties (builder and vendor) have settled the matter, we are not remitting the matter to the adjudicating authority (NCLT).”

It further added, “Interim Resolution Professional declaring moratorium, freezing of account and all other orders passed by adjudicating authority pursuant to impugned order and action taken by the Resolution Professional etc are declared illegal and are set aside.”

The insolvency order had also affected the residents of other projects of the Paramount Propbuild Pvt Ltd. They were also facing the halting of registration of flats and maintenance activities at their respective societies.

The order came after the developer submitted that the Paramount Propbuild Pvt Ltd never received the notice of insolvency otherwise the matter would have been settled earlier.

As City Spidey had earlier reported that a vendor had complained to NCLT against the developer alleging for not clearing the bills and following which the tribunal had sought developer’s reply. On failure of submission, NCLT had declared the real estate firm insolvent and had suspended the authority of the director of the company and had also appointed an IRP.

In the last two weeks, the residents had to face a tough time because daily maintenance works were halted due to non-payment of employees. Many residents, who were ready to shift to their flats, panicked because the process of flat registration was stopped.

Many residents complained that they had planned to shift into their flats and they were just waiting for completion of some finishing works in their flats but all were stopped. Now, they believe the work will be resumed soon and they will be able to shift into their new homes.

Chaos in front of metro stations force commuters to rethink routes

Long traffic jams during peak hours are not new to Noida commuters, but the chaos in front of Botanical Metro Station and City Centre Metro Station are a different story altogether.

The autos, e-rickshaws and cabs parked right outside the stations have completely blocked off a portion of the road — forcing commuters to sometimes even rework their routes.

“I have been availing the Metro since the day it first started in Noida to commute to office in Delhi. But things have gotten really bad now — there’s no crowd management and just reaching the Metro station is a huge ordeal,” complained Akansha Srivastava, a resident of Sector 50.

Autowallahs parked outside the station contend that the jams are caused by people who illegally park their vehicles on the road, despite the presence of traffic police officials. Those who drive prepaid autos say this chaos is also eating into their business — even though they park only in the lane designated for them.

Feeling bitter about the situation, Dharmender Yadav, an auto driver, said, “The jams are mainly due to two reasons —encroachment brought upon by small roadside vendors such as cigarette kiosks, chat and food stalls, and secondly, due to e-rickshaws.”

Amrapali Zodiac: Debris of razed illegal shop stays intact even after a month

The residents of Amrapali Zodiac, a high rise society in Sector 120, are complaining about the callousness of Noida Authority in cleaning the debris of an illegal shop which was broken by them about a month back.

As per an official of Noida Authority, they have sent a notice to the builder to remove the debris.

“In the notice, the builder has been asked to remove the debris. If it is not removed by the builder, then the Authority will remove this debris. The Authority will recover the expenditure incurred in the removal of debris from the builder,” said SPS Yadav, project engineer in Noida Authority.

Yadav said that the rule of the Authority is to send two to three prior notices to the builder before razing the illegal constructions. Every notice gives 15 days of time.

The notice has also been sent twice to the Amrapali Group. Now if this debris is not removed from their side, then the wreckage will also be removed and the money will be collected from them.

Dwarka: Metro View Apartments accuses SDMC of incomplete work inside society

The Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of Metro View Apartments is demanding from the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) to complete the repairing of roadside and drain inside the society in Dwarka.

The repairing is due alongside the flat numbers 489 to 593. The president of the RWA, Vinod Rawat informed that the work was done on only one side of the flats. He stressed that work should have been done on both sides.

“When you look at the stretch, you will find that the work was done on the only side. These flats have two faces. Hence, there are two roads. One side has been left unrepaired,” said the president of RWA, Vinod Rawat.

Rawat shared the detailed copy of the allotted work to City Spidey. He alleged that the expense of the work was not more than one lakh rupees. According to the copy of the letter, the work was allotted in August 2018 and it was to be completed in two months.

“The expenditure of the work would not be more than one lakh rupees. Now, I want to ask, where the rest of the amount gone? I have asked the subject to the SDMC people and also requested for the completion of work but they did not take any concern,” alleged Rawat.

According to the copy of the allotment of tender, the total budget for the work was Rs 7,92,402. Now, RWA is demanding the audit of the work and the money spent on it.

People of the society said that the SDMC had not done justice to the work which was under its jurisdiction. SK Singh, a resident said, “SDMC should look into the matter. The incomplete work must be completed.”

On the subject, Mayor of SDMC, Narendra Chawla said that he would take the subject into concern and do the needful.
