GB Nagar: Residents get ready with demands ahead of MP’s visit for elections

As the general elections draw closer, the politicians have started reaching out to the residents of high-rises in Noida and Greater Noida. But, it seems that the residents are going to let them off easily this time as they have prepared a long list of demands which they will be putting in front of him.

The list demands include - better transport services to commute between Noida and Greater Noida, foot-over-bridges (FOB), U-turn on the roads, daily maintenance system, snapping rising snatching incidents and many more. Noida News

Greater Noida West, which is a newly developed residential hub, has a population of more than two lakh people. The population is expected to swell by 3-4 times more in the future. The area needs more attention with several development works to ease the life of people living in the area.

Many people, who got fed up with the slow process of government authorities in providing public transport for the last couple of years, seemed to have decided to raise their demands when the politicians come to their societies to seek their support in the election.

For instance, residents of Gaur City town hub in Greater Noida West, which accommodate nearly 50,000 people in 14 different Avenues (societies), welcomed the Gautam Budh Nagar MP, Mahesh Sharma with a long list of works a couple of days back.

“Lack of bus service is a major problem for us. Two buses have been started recently but these are not enough. Many people, whose offices are in Noida sectors 61, 62, 63 or in Ghaziabad, are totally dependent on auto-rickshaws. One has to change three auto-rickshaws to reach Sector 63 or Indirapuram in Ghaziabad,” said Manish Kumar, a resident of Greater Noida West.

Residents of Gaur City 1 (Gaur City is divided into two parts - Gaur City 1 and 2) demanded that a foot-over-bridge near the gate of the society so that they can cross the road without putting their lives in risk. They complained that street lights outside the societies are not functioning properly.

Residents said that mobile and chain snatching incidents have become a daily nuisance in the area. Women and senior citizens do not feel safe while moving out of their homes.

“We have a long list of demands including a police chowki which has become a need of the hour. We have heard that a police chowki will be set up near Gaur City 1 but we are waiting for it,” said Punit Kohli, a resident of Gaur City.
