This is what the authorities promised...and we are watching

GURGAON

May 23: Hardeep Sigh, Gurugram deputy commissioner, on widening of the Khandsa drain, which causes waterlogging during monsoons

“We have to get the Khandsa bottleneck cleared. We are planning to offer alternative plots to owners whose structures come in the way of the drain-widening work. But we are better prepared this year. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has asked us to arrange for motor pumps to have the drains de-silted, and take other necessary measures to tackle waterlogging across the city.”

May 21: Inspector Vijay Kumar, station head officer (SHO), Sadar police station, on the recent increase in incidents of theft and snatching in Pocket C, Sector 39

“We have deployed a dedicated PCR van in the area and crime has reduced after that. But if they get a boundary wall, things will certainly improve.”

NOIDA

May 23: RP Singh, project engineer of Noida Authority, on introducing a traffic signal at the intersection near Panchsheel Balak Inter College, Sector 91

"It is a long-standing demand from the residents of the area. Though we haven’t fixed a deadline, I hope the work will be completed in the next two months.”

May 23: PK Garg, project engineer of Noida Authority, on the decision to divert traffic towards NH 24 via a U-turn near Shopprix Mall

"The U-turn will be ready in a week's time. Once that is ready, vehicles can start taking the new route and traffic congestion near the underpass can be avoided."

GHAZIABAD
May 23: Balram Yadav, in-charge of Shipra police post, on increasing number of petty crimes in Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram

"Petty criminals, such as snatchers, are a major challenge for us. We have started posting police personnel in plain clothes and have achieved some success in this regard. Around two such attempts were foiled and the miscreants were also nabbed in the past few days. Patrolling in those areas will be increased.”

May 23: Dayanand Prasad, OSD of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), on the notice issued by the Authority asking AOAs to seek permission from Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) before extracting groundwater

"The Authority is just carrying out orders issued by the district administration and National Green Tribunal (NGT) and has no direct role to play in this. GDA did not issue any kind of NOC to builders for setting up borewells. According to NGT’s order, all such borewells require NOCs from the CGWA.”

DWARKA

May 22: Kamaljeet Sehrawat, the new mayor of South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), on her primary focus for the area
"At first, I have to work on improving sanitation. I want my area to be neat and clean, full of greenery and beautiful. I have already started working on my plan. Residents will definitely feel a change in two to three months' time. Next comes development in the fields of health and education. I want to make the involved processes simpler, and how better to do that than to take things online. People will be able to sit in the comfort of their homes and get things done."

EAST DELHI

May 18: Vipin Singh, newly elected EDMC standing committee chairman, on implementing Compost Banao – Compost Apnao, a scheme launched by Union Urban Development Ministry
“We wanted to kickstart our tenure with this initiative. Garbage is a major issue in the city and our aim is to implement the zero-garbage concept, which means all the waste produced in a particular area is disposed of or consumed within that area. I have planned to start the operation from Mayur Vihar I, my municipal ward. This concept is fairly new and will need cooperation from all residents to make it a success. I have discussed the concept with the residents and the RWAs of Mayur Vihar I  and residents are willing to support it.”
