Jewellery, cars, bicycles and even tyres are being stolen from Sec 56, Gurgaon!

A string of thefts and robberies has left residents of Sector 56, Gurgaon, feeling unsafe and insecure. Even after reporting their concerns to the police, there has been no difference in the situation.

The sector has 574 houses, with 600 families residing in them.
"Close to 30 bicycles have been stolen in the past three months," said Sudhir Bharadwaj, president of the RWA. "My bicycle was also among the ones stolen."
What's astonishing is that most of the thefts and robberies have taken place in broad daylight, usually in the afternoons, when people were either indoors or at work. Houses have been robbed, cars, bicycles and even car tyres have been stolen.
"They stole my car tyre the other day," said Ashwini Rao, a resident of the sector. "I was getting into my car to go to work in the morning. When I started the car, I was surprised to feel the car tilt to one side. When I got out to check, I found out that one of the car's tyres was missing and the car was supported on a stack of bricks. Even the bolts on the other three wheels were loose. They probably wanted to nick all the tyres but could only take one."
About two weeks ago, a house was robbed of valuables while the residents were away.
"We are aware of the incidents and have increased patrolling in the area," said Arvind Yadav, SHO, Sector 56. "We will provide whatever cooperation residents require from us."
