Mayur Vihar Ph I Ext: Are these animal lovers in trouble?

Following the uproar around the murder of a stray dog inside United India Apartments, in Mayur Vihar Phase I Extension, the society’s managing committee has handed over a written complaint to the Mayur Vihar police station against the animal lovers involved.
In its complaint, the managing committee alleged that on May 20, the evening the dog died, a group of animal lovers barged into the society and created a ruckus.

The complaint letter reads: “We fully understand their views [the animal lovers’] and share the anguish over the death of an innocent dog, but it is unfathomable that a group will create such a ruckus and forcibly occupy our premises, creating a nuisance and disturbing our peace and tranquillity.”
The society’s managing committee told City Spidey that it had requested the SHO of Mayur Vihar to ensure such an incident was not repeated again.
City Spidey made several attempts to seek SHO Deepka Kumar’s view on the matter, but could not reach him. However, president of United India Apartments, Purusottam Das Bhatt, said, “I met the SHO at our gate when he was patrolling the area and informed him of the issue. He assured us that he would look into the matter.”
On the other hand, the involved animal lovers have also filed a complaint on May 20 against the society, demanding action against the security guards and staff members who beat the dog to death.
When City Spidey contacted Sneha Dogra, one of the animal lovers involved, she denied knowledge of any such complaint having been lodged in their name. “I have not received any notice from the police,” she said.
She, however, added, “We are not trying to disrupt the peace of any society. Our fight is against animal cruelty. All we demand is justice for the innocent animal that was murdered so brutally.”
