Schools all set to reopen from Jan 18 in Delhi, check new norms

As Delhi gets ready to rollout vaccination programme, the schools are all set to reopen from Monday (January 18) after a long gap. Schools will reopen for students of classes 10 and 12.

The classes will be conducted with proper adherence to the Covid-19 guidelines. The timings of classes are expected to be lesser in comparison to earlier.

Not more than 12-15 students will be allowed to sit in a class. There will be hand washing consoles and sanitisers kept in the corridors of the schools. The students will be called in two batches at the schools. Students will attend the classes on alternate days.

The students, who are willing to attend the classes, should carry consent form of their parents to the schools. Students will not be allowed to share foods, books, copies and stationary items. They will have to carry water bottles with them.

The schools timings should not be more than 4-5 hours. Not more than two students will be allowed at the washrooms at one time. Students will have to follow social distancing in the classrooms. There will be multiple entry and exit points in the schools to avoid rush. There will be a quarantine centre also at the schools.

Schools will be required to carry proper sanitisation works in the classrooms. The classrooms will be sanitised before and after the classes.

Keeping in view the upcoming board examinations, the government took the decision to reopen schools in the national capital. Over 3 lakh students have registered for the Class 10 CBSE board exam while over 2.5 lakh candidates have registered for the Class 12 exam.

“In order to conduct the activities pertaining to pre-board preparations and practical work, the head of government, aided and unaided recognised schools may call the students of classes 10 and 12 only to school with effect from January 18, 2021. However, the child should be called to school only with the consent of parents, following the enclosed standard operating procedure. Further, while the records of children coming to school be maintained, the same should not be used for attendance purposes as sending the child to school is completely optional for parents,” the circular of Directorate of Education (DoE) read.
