Noida Power Company Limited (NPCL) is all set to take a society for conversion of single point connection to multipoint connection as pilot project within three months time. Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has directed the NPCL to make amendments in Electricity Supply Code – 2005.
The NPCL will submit the name of the selected society and other details to the UPERC in ten days time. Last year, the UPERC had ordered the group housing societies to convert single point connection into multipoint connections.
As per the orders, the conversions were to be completed by March 31, 2019. But, high cost of implementation and flat owner's reluctance in accepting the cost delayed the conversions.
Citing the cost of conversions as unaffordable, flat owners had raised the issue with Uttar Pradesh Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (UP RERA).
On the orders of RERA, UPERC had constituted a committee and demanded a report on use of new technology. After receiving the report, the UPERC made amendment in Electricity Supply Code – 2005.
A senior official in NPCL talking to City Spidey said, “Under the pilot project, electricity connections will be given separately to each and every flats in he society. At least, 200 meters of cables will be required. The details will be submitted to UPERC within 10 days.”
“After that, the conversion from single point connection to multipoint connection will be completed in next 3 months. It will be done using new technology,” official added.
