Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has floated tenders for laying of water pipelines in sectors 68-99 and 112-115. The move is aimed at fast tracking the work on piped water distribution in these sectors.
The tenders for sectors 68-81 were floated in the last month. However, tenders for sectors 82-99 and 112-115 were released this week.
The total cost of the two tenders is approximately Rs 152 crore — Rs 61 crore for sectors 82-99 and 112-115, and Rs 91 crore for sectors 68-81.
As per the GMDA officials, after the allotment of tenders, it will take another six months to complete the laying of pipelines in these sectors.
A GMDA officials said to TOI, “We are making efforts to complete the laying of pipelines as soon as possible. It will take four months from the allotment of the tenders to complete the work.”
People living near Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) and Dwarka Expressway will be benefitted from the development. At present, the residents of these areas are using groundwater or purchasing water from tankers for daily purposes.
However, the GMDA is already supplying water in sectors 58-67 and 100-111. It has been among priority of GMDA to supply water new sectors. But, in the absence of required infrastructure, there has been problems in supply of water.
