Noida will get three more monitoring stations for real-time monitoring of ambient air quality over the next three months. There are three stations in the district at the moment to monitor the two markers of ambient air quality—PM 2.5 and PM 10 levels.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released the first installation of Rs 13 crore to Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) to set up nine air quality monitoring station in the state. The details were revealed through a RTI application. Noida News
Earlier, the UPPCB had demanded around 18.93 crores from CPCB for the installation of nine air monitoring systems in the state.
According to Amit Gupta, RTI activist, who had filed the application, the stations are expected to be installed and operational over the next three months. “Three stations will be set up in Noida, three in Ghaziabad and the rest three in other cities of Uttar Pradesh,” said Gupta.
Explaining the timeline, an officer in UPPCB said that an order for the machine has already been placed and expected time for the arrival of the machine is November end. “We will start the process of installation by December,” official added.
“The new air monitoring system will be installed in the district in Sector-1 and Sector-116. We are still finding a good location in Noida Extension. At present, the district has three automated air-quality monitoring systems — one at Amity University, another at Sector 62 and the third one at Sharda University in Greater Noida,” official said.
