Following a slew of complaints from homebuyers, Orris infrastructure has been asked by the district town and country planning (DTCP) department to submit a detailed plan for completion of their residential project in Sector 89 in Gurgaon.
On Saturday, the residents of Orris Carnation in Sector 85 had staged a protest for inadequate security of the residents after an 11-year-old girl was molested by the housekeeping staff.
Angry residents gathered outside the complex and raised slogan. They alleged poor quality of infrastructure and no security in the area. “The quality of construction is extremely poor. There is seepage everywhere in our houses and several other issues,” said a resident on condition of anonymity.
Homebuyers have been complaining for long to the authority about delay in completion of projects, the presence of a nullah which was not in the original plan and several other issues.
“So many of us have already paid more than 90% of the total project cost but the work is nowhere near the finish line. We have made several complaints to the authorities but nothing has been done till now,” said a homebuyer.
The details of the external and internal development charges (EDC/IDC) collected by the builder have also been sought by the district town planner (DTP), Gurgaon.
The buyers also alleged that the developers have not deposited EDC and IDC with the government, though they have collected the same from them to the tune of Rs 43 crore. “Because of this, road, water and power supply infrastructure hasn’t been developed in the area. Now the problem is that this charge has increased to Rs 80 crore, inclusive of interest, which is impossible for us to pay,” said another homebuyer.
Meanwhile, district town planner RS Bhath said that after listening to the grievances of the buyers, directions have been issued to both the developers to submit a detailed plan on completing the project.
“In the next three days, we will conduct a site inspection to check the ground reality. We have also sought all details pertaining to collection of EDC/IDC,” Bhath said.
Planning officer Jaiveer Sharma said that as many as 100 buyers have complained to the department. “Acting on that, we have spoken to top officials of the companies to resolve the issue at the earliest.”
However, a representative of Orris Infrastructure at the DTCP office said that the project wasn’t delayed for too long and they will comply with all the directions. “We will ensure compliance with Haryana Real Estate Regulation Act (HRERA).
