Dwarka: Water crisis plagues societies in Sector 12

Residential societies around Ashirwad Chowk in Sector 12, Dwarka, have been facing acute water shortage for the past one week.

The residents of the area complained that the supply of water from the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has been intermittent and the quantity of the supply was too less to meet daily requirements.

General secretary of RWA of Sector 5 Pocket 1 SFS flats, Mahesh Gupta, said that his society was the worst affected. “My society is the last one to receive water from the command tank located at Sector 4, which receives water from DJB. Apart from us, the tank supplies water to Harmony Apartments in Sector 4, Surabhi Apartments in Sector 11 and Dwarkadheesh Apartments in Sector 12. For the past few days, the water supply to the command tank has been affected.” Dwarka News

The residents of Harmony Apartments also complained that the water supply has been irregular. Former general secretary of RWA, Arvind Rudra, said, “The supply has been 30-40 per cent less for the past few days.”

Many societies in the area have been compelled to opt for private water tankers. Treasurer of Dwarka Forum and a resident of Ashirvad Apartments, Sector 12, P Menon said, “We are buying one or two tankers on an average every day since last one week because the water supply from DJB has been insufficient.”

A DJB official, on the condition of anonymity, said that they are concerned about the situation and will resolve it soon.
