A new substation on the cards in Sector 31, Gurgaon, but residents miffed...

Residents of Sectors 31, 39, 40, Mohyal Colony, as well as nearby areas, have been since long demanding better power supply in the area. In response, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) has finally decided to build a 66 kv electricity substation in Sector 31. Gurgaon News

The site for the substation has been earmarked on a green belt along Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway in Sector 31. HUDA, which owns the land, is to transfer it to the HVPN at the earliest.

However, some residents are not okay with the idea that a substation is coming up in the green belt.

A resident of Sector 31, MC Yadav, said, “We know power supply is poor and outages are common during the summer months. A dedicated substation for our area is essential, but not at the cost of trees. The HUDA must change the site, else we will protest.”

But, according to HUDA officials, however, the process of land transfer has already begun.

Currently, the area gets power from a substation located in Sector 15 Part 1.

Officials of the HVPN and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) had conducted a survey in January this year and approved the construction of the 66kv substation to strengthen power supply in the area.
