Residents of Homes 121, a residential society in Sector- 121, Noida have demanded shifting of the foot over bridge (FOB) near Sector-120 to a suitable location in a residential area.
The residents have complained that the FOB connects two vacant fields at an isolated place, thus, rendering it useless for pedestrians. They further alleged that despite wasting a lot of money in its construction, even lifts have not been installed near it by the Noida Authority.
On the other hand, an official of the Noida Authority said that the FOB was built at a cost of around Rs 1.5 crore so that the residents of Parthala Khanjarpur and other villages could easily cross over to the other side.
“A private firm invested the money in construction of the FOB on a build operate transfer (BOT) basis. The agency will recover this amount by using the space for advertising at the FOB for 10 years. Once this time period is over, the authority will receive advertising rights on the space available around the bridge,” the official added. noida news
Abhay Pandey, a resident of Homes 121 told City Spidey that he could not understand why the Noida Authority had selected an isolated spot for building the FOB. He further complained that the FOB is located 200 meters away from the residential areas and should be shifted near their society.
“I had made a complaint regarding shifting of the FOB on the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS). However, I received a reply from the Noida Authority that they wouldn’t be able to shift it,” Pandey added.
SC Mishra, Senior Project Engineer of Noida Authority said that lifts are being installed near the FOB presently and thus we can’t change its location. “I will conduct a survey regarding the utility of the FOB and after that will discuss more about it,” Mishra further added.
