Gurgaon: Delay in salary forces security wing to go on strike at Palm Grove

Agitated over non-payment of two months’ salaries, the security personnel of Palm Grove Heights in Sector 52 went on indefinite strike on Wednesday. However, the strike was withdrawn two hours later after getting assurance from the employer that their salaries will be transferred latest by Thursday.

A total of 35 security personnel work at the high-rise group housing society of Palm Grove Heights. The society is a part of the Ardee City Township at Sector 52.

The security guards were annoyed over the fact that they didn’t receive the salaries for February and March. They were struggling to keep up with the expenses of the households as the month of April was also near its end. gurgaon news

After seeing no response despite repeated requests to the employer SLV Group, the security personnel went on strike. They had also vowed to against start strike on Friday if they don’t get payment by then and also block the gate of Palm Grove Heights society on that day.

A security guard, on condition of anonymity, said, “We live in a slum in groups of four or five, and we have not paid our rents. Our livelihood has been affected due to this inordinate delay in the salary. We will go on strike again on Friday if we do not get our salaries by then.”

Pappu Sharma, AGM Operations, SLV Group, said, “SLV has an agreement with a service provider company, which in turn has an agreement with Ardee Infrastructure Private Limited. We have asked the company for the guards’ salary and we hope this issue will be resolved soon.”

The residents are also at loggerheads with the developer on many issues. Palm Grove Heights Apartment Owners Association (PGH-AOA) is also struggling with maintenance problem with the developer for past one year and more.

“The security guards are threatening to go on strike again on Friday as they have not got salaries for past two-three months. We have two entry-exit gates and night patrolling this all can come to security threat in case they resume strike,” said Naresh Khushlani, president of the RWA.

Anil Hasija, vice president of the Ardee Infrastructure, the developer, has not given any response to the several text messages and calls.
