Delhiites thronged the city's parks and public squares to mark the third International Yoga Day.
Light showers in the morning did not deter the city's residents, as all parks in residential areas were chock-a-block with both the young and the old. Residents in societies where the rains had rendered the parks unfit for a yoga session took to the community centres.
The central park in Connaught Place was teeming with people. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation had closed entry and exit at Rajeev Chowk Metro station from 5.30 am to 7.30 am.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi organised several yoga sessions across the city. North Delhi Municipal Corporation organised its event at Ajmal Khan Park, while South Delhi Municipal Corporation organised an event at the Talkatora stadium. East Delhi Municipal Corporation organised a yoga camp at its headquarters in Patparganj. rwa management software
"It was great to see so many people turn up for the session," said Manjari Joshi, a yoga teacher who took a session in a Mayur Vihar Phase I park. "Usually it is only the senior citizens who are enthusiastic about yoga. But the youth is slowly warming up to it. There were a number of young people present at the camp today. Yoga is for everybody. Even a 2-year-old can practise yoga."
