Gurgaon, Sector 57: How Eden Park was reclaimed...

Spread across four acres of land, Eden Park in Sector 57 had become a place that most residents feared going to any longer.

In the absence of lights, it had become a shady hub for people wanting to drink, or lovers looking for the cover of dark. Gurgaon Society News

The lights in the park had been lying defunct since a couple of years, and civic bodies simply turned a blind eye to it.

Senior citizens, women and children had stopped going to the park altogether. They had begun to feel insecure. And the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) did nothing to improve the situation,” said NS Yadav, RWA president, Sector 57. Gurgaon Local News

But help came from unexpected quarters.
The RWA of Sector 46 stepped up. It got two sodium lights installed at the park.

“We had to do this, as the park belonged to the residents. We had to reclaim it. We bought two sodium lights and got them installed. We are always willing to pitch in development efforts,” said Raj Kumar Yadav, RWA president, Sector 46.
