PVVNL introduces 1st underground substation at Noida Sector 18

In a significant development for the Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, the first underground substation has been successfully established in Sector-18. This pioneering substation operates entirely underground, marking a significant departure from traditional overhead line connections. The substation, constructed by the Noida Authority, has been completed as of November 2021. However, the installation of the underground power lines took some time to finalize.

The newly established underground substation boasts four transformers, each with a capacity of 2500 KVA (kilovolt-ampere). As of now, 1450 traders have already begun receiving their electricity supply through underground lines. Additionally, the Vidyut Vitran Nigam is actively working towards transitioning the entire electricity system in the Sector-18 market to an underground setup.

Noida Sector-18 encompasses the bustling commercial hub of Delhi NCR, hosting multistoried buildings and attracting numerous businesses. As part of the beautification initiative, the decision was made to completely bury the electricity infrastructure throughout the market. Consequently, electric poles and overhead wires will soon vanish from the landscape, offering a more aesthetically pleasing environment.
