Noida - GreNo Authorities to Set Up Waste-to-Energy Plant in Astauli Village

The authorities of Noida and Greater Noida have announced plans to construct a sizeable waste-to-energy plant in Astauli village to effectively dispose of the waste from both cities. The agreements have been signed with (National Thermal Power Corporation) NTPC  Vidyut Vyapar Nigam limited and Indo Environment Integrated Solutions Limited, who will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining the plant.

According to Avneesh Tripathi, an officer of the Noida Authority, the two agencies will be handed over 30 acres of land. NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited will use 20 acres to build a plant that can recycle 1,110 metric tonnes of waste per day, using a metric ton per day basis. The plant will process both wet and dry waste and produce green charcoal. It will recycle 600 metric tonnes of waste from Noida and 500 metric tonnes of waste from Greater Noida daily.

On the other hand, Indo Environment Integrated Solutions Limited will build a plant on 10 acres of land that can recycle 300 metric tonnes of waste per day, handling 200 metric tonnes of waste. The plant will produce compressed gas for sale in the market.

Mr. Tripathi stated that the authorities would not share any profits from the operation of the two plants. The agencies would benefit from the sale of recycled components and by-products.

At present, Noida generates 600 metric tonnes of waste per day, while Greater Noida generates 250 metric tonnes. These two plants are being constructed to cater to the growing population of both cities and to solve the waste management issue.
