Dwarka: DDA pockets tussle with water shortage

Residents of various DDA pockets of Dwarka located in Sector 5, 4, and 12 are facing water crisis these days. People have complained that the water supply has been very poor for the past 2-3 weeks, making it difficult for them to meet daily requirements.

Mahesh Gupta, General Secretary of the RWA said, “There are societies and DDA pockets that are suffering from water crisis in Dwarka. The Underground Reservoir (UGR) at sector 4, Harmony Apartments is catered through supply from CT-3. This UGR supplies water to three pockets of DDA i.e sector 5 - Pocket-1, Sector 4, Pocket-1 and Sector 11, Pocket -1. Consistently, supply from CT 3 is going down and yesterday, it was only 4 feet. It seems that the supply is being manipulated. Tankers have also been reduced to fill the Underground Reservoir (UGR) for reasons best known to the Executive Engineer, Dwarka.”

“We had a meeting at the MLA office on 16th June with Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials however no improvement has happened till date. The reason for the truncated supply is less water in UGR at Sector 4. We are buying water from private tankers and it is putting a financial burden on us”, explained Gupta.

Executive Engineer, Delhi Jal Board, Dwarka, SN Prasad informed that tankers would be supplied to the pocket to meet the increased demand. He also said that the concerned officials have been directed to look into the matter and seek resolution.
