Several Metro stations shut in city. Here’s why

Due to the three-hour “chakka jam” called by the protesting farmers, many Metro stations were closed in the national capital on Saturday.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) took to Twitter to inform the commuters about the closing of entry/exit stations at many stations.

Entry/exit gates of Barakhamba Road, Mandi House, ITO, Delhi Gate, Vishwavidyalaya, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Janpath, Central Secretariat, Khan Market and Nehru Place were shut.
Security has been beefed up on the roads of the national capital. More barricades have now been put on several roads leading to Parliament and adjoining areas. Water cannon vehicles have also been deployed at the Ghazipur Border areas.

While there was lesser traffic on the roads today, Metro commuters were left stranded at the stations due to no entry/exit rule. Many had to also disembark at other stations and come back to their destinations.
