Amid bird flu scare, more than 100 crows found dead in Delhi

On top of the threat of bird flu across the six states in the country, the news of deaths of more than 100 crows in the past three to four days have sparked fear in the national capital. Crows’ deaths have been reported from three locations in Delhi.

The deaths have been reported from Mayur Vihar, Dwarka and Hastsal village of West district.

At least 15-20 crows died at a park in Mayur Vihar on Saturday morning. The care taker of the park informed that a team from the Delhi government had come to inspect the birds and took five samples for testing in Jalandhar. The birds were buried in the park as well.

Earlier, two crows in Dwarka and 16 in Hastsal village were found dead. The Delhi government had collected samples for investigating avian influenza.

As per information, the Animal Husbandry Department has been directed to promptly monitor the situation with proper vigil and ensure proper sampling.

The Delhi government has formed as many as 11 Rapid Response Teams to monitor their assigned districts. They have sent samples to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases.
