GreNo Authority files FIR against manager for illegal felling of trees

After the illegal felling of trees in the area, the Greater Noida Authority has filed an FIR against the manager of the proposed petrol pump who was behind the action. The FIR was registered at the Ecotech-III police station.

On Wednesday, the members of Noida Extension Flat Owners Association (NEFOWA) members saw felling activities near Amrapali Mall opposite to the The Millennium School.

They immediately stopped the people from felling trees. But they were shown permission letter from the horticulture department. However, after examining the permission letter, they got to know that permission was given for felling of 56 trees.

However, as they claimed, more than 400 trees were uprooted which was way beyond the permission.

NEFOWA had then complained about the matter to the Greater Noida Authority. President of NEFOWA, Abhishek Kumar said that the number of felled trees mentioned in the FIR is very less than the actual number.

He said that they will continue to monitor the progress in the case and will make sure that such activities are not repeated in future.

There is a 60-meter wide road from Surajpur police line to Kisan Chowk. The site where felling of trees were witness is alongside this road on the green belt.

Kumar said that the manager of the petrol pump had started felling trees with the help of a JCB machine. They had immediately raised the matter to the police, forest department and the Authority. But, by the time the officials arrived, the people involved in felling of trees escaped from the spot.
