A medical awareness talk for senior citizens was organised at Dwarka’s Venkateshwar Hospital in Sector 18 on Friday. The event was organized by Venkateshwar Hospital and Seniors Hum, a social organisation working for senior citizens in Dwarka.
About hundred seniors from various sectors and societies in Dwarka attended the event.
In the first session, Dr RK Pandey from orthopedic department and oncologist Dr SK Gupta talked about dos and don’ts to avoid any bone injury at older age. One of the most discussed topics was knee replacement and the usefulness of the surgery.
The second session was conducted by Dr Sunil Gupta, head of oncology at Venkateshwar Hospital. He talked about how the dreaded disease is perfectly curable if diagnosed early and raised the importance of undergoing regular screening tests.
Talking to City Spidey, general secretary of Seniors Hub and a resident of Harsukh Apartments in Sector 7, Ravi Jaitely, said, “Both the sessions were highly interactive and we heard a lot of personal experiences too. We will keep organising more such sessions for the elderly citizens of Dwarka.”
President of Seniors Hub and a resident of Mass Apartments, Sector 10, RK Jain said that their group was dedicated towards the welfare of senior citizens. In future, he added, they plan to also hold entertainment programmes for the elderly.
