Gurgaon tops list of world’s most polluted cities in 2018


While there is no doubt that Gurgaon is one of the best cities in terms of business activities, its residents are forced to live in an environment which is very hazardous to health. The city has topped in terms of air pollution in the world.
As per the data released by the IQAir AirVisual and Greenpeace, the city of Gurgaon has been ranked number one in the world. It has raised concerns of the people who are struggling to cope with high levels of pollution.

The obvious culprit are the authorities which have failed to create a conducive environment for people living in the city. As a matter of fact, there are seven Indian cities in the top ten cities in the world.

It shows that the authorities in India are least bothered to provide clean air to people living in the Indian cities. The residents in India are neglected lot when it comes to dealing with the polluted environment.

The Executive Director of Greenpeace Southeast Asia, Yeb Sano told Bloomberg, “The present high level of pollution takes a toll on people’s health and wallet. This has contributed in numerous deaths. People also struggle with the high amount of money spent on the medical treatments.”

The top ten cities in terms of pollution in the world are – Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faisalabad, Faridabad, Bhiwadi, Noida, Patna, Hotan, Lucknow and Lahore.

The list clearly shows that the Delhi-NCR has been most polluted area in the world with Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Noida featuring in the top ten. The residents living in Delhi-NCR are most vulnerable to the diseases caused by air pollution.

Further, there are 22 Indian cities in the list out of the top 30 cities in the world.
