State’s public works minister Rao Narbir Singh on Tuesday held a joint meeting with the officials of the Public Works Department (PWD) and the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) following the complaints by the residents of Palam Vihar regarding sewerage issue.
People of the area complained that the sewer line was shifted during the construction of Bajghera’s railway overbridge (ROB) and as a result, the sewage started flowing back and entered into several houses, causing deep trouble.
During the meet, the minister ordered the officials concerned to resolve the matter at the earliest.
However, he stated that the work related to shifting of the sewer line was carried out through the PWD and under the supervision of the GMDA. Besides, an amount of Rs 38 lakh was given by the PWD for the same.
The documents related to the sewerage work were also tabled during the meet.
GMDA’s additional CEO Naresh Narwal, chief engineer ND Vashisht and PWD’s superintendent engineer Chandra Mohan were present during the meeting.
The work related to the removal of silt from the master sewerage line, which is underway, is also cited as one of the possible reasons for the backflow of sewer water in the Palam Vihar area.
