Republic Day: Police advise commuters to plan routes as per traffic advisory


The traffic police officials have issued an advisory for traffic arrangements and restrictions on the occasion of Republic Day. The arrangements will be done to ensure smooth movement of parade from Vijay Chowk to Red Fort Grounds. 

They said that traffic movement on the route of the parade will be restricted. 

As per the traffic advisory, no vehicle will be allowed on Rajpath, from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, from 6 pm on January 25 till the parade is over.

No vehicles will be allowed to cross Rajpath from 11 pm on January 25 at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road till the time the parade gets over. Traffic movement will also be restricted at India Gate from 2 am on January 26 till the parade passes Tilak Marg.

The Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Alok Kumar said that vehicles will not be allowed on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg in both directions from 10 am onwards on the Republic Day.

The Delhi Police have requested the commuters abide by the traffic advisory and plan their routes accordingly.

The parade will commence at 9.50 am from Vijay Chowk and move through Rajpath, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar (BSZ) Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg to reach the Red Fort. 

As far as the Metro services are concerned, boarding and de-boarding at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations will not be allowed from 5 am till 12 pm on January 26.
