A sudden spell of rain post Monday afternoon, which continued till Tuesday morning, lashed various parts of Delhi and NCR, including Noida. This caused severe waterlogging and heavy traffic jams on several roads across the city, causing trouble to the commuters.
The Delhi Noida Delhi (DND) flyway, too, got blocked by all kinds of vehicles. Besides, the expressway and the intersection near Sector-15 metro station witnessed frequent traffic snarls due to uninterrupted showers.
Besides office-goers, school children too, were compelled to reach their school late. Cab drivers and others also had a tough time, battling to get through the water-logged areas, potholed roads and overflowing drains! Noida News
Reshma Sharma, a resident of Sector-30 told City Spidey, “The flow of traffic on the main road was heavy since morning. Did not see anyone managing it though!”
“I use the same road everyday but today, it took me over 30 minutes to travel from one stretch to another. I mean, roads in Noida have literally transformed into a river,” Rakesh Sharma, a commuter, said.
On one hand where people alleged there were no cops to manage the bottlenecks, traffic police, on the other, refuted such charges and defended themselves saying there were jams in some parts of the city but they did their job well!
The unexpected rain not only added to the traffic woes for the commuters but it also exposed the Noida Authority’s lack of preparedness to tackle such situations.
