A municipal councillor from Indirapuram allegedly received a threat call from an unknown person asking him to stop his efforts for removing encroachments near Windsor market.
Abhinav Jain, councillor from Vaibhav Khand, has filed a complaint to the police alleging that on Wednesday at around 9 pm, he received a call from a person who introduced himself as SK Sharma.
“He threatened me of dire consequences if I did not stop with my efforts to remove encroachments around Windsor market. I have recorded the call as evidence and will submit it to the police,” Jain said.
Jain said he is working to remove illegal shops selling cigarettes, soda and snacks that have come up near Windsor market as they are creating trouble for the residents living in the vicinity.
“People coming to these shops illegally park their vehicles on the road and drink alcohol in the open. They harass women passing by and engage in fights with residents. It is creating nuisance for the residents living in the vicinity,” Jain added.
Police said that they have received a complaint from Jain and are investigation the matter.
Windsor market is surrounded by high rises including Windsor Park Apartments, SPS residency and Express Gardens.
