Diwali is just a day away and societies are all geared up to celebrate one of the biggest events of India — and Diwali melas form a quintessential part of this festive fervour. This Sunday, Saya Zenith in Indirapuram opened its gates to all for a rockin’ mela!
Gates usually closed for outsiders welcomed visitors. The whole place looked different.
The open area of the society was dotted with beautiful pink and white stalls, while the children play area had colourful chairs and a stage.
Those who had moved their cars to the basement to make more space for the mela had a special gift waiting for them at the entry — a quick, nice shine for their cars.
The stalls were all ready by evening flaunting décor items like diyas, torans and other quirky knick-knacks.
And what’s a fete without some great food! At this society there was plenty to choose from — papdi chaat, pasta, chilla, pav bhaji, golgappa, idli, dahi bhalla...
The fairy lights set the aura and the music from the speakers made almost everyone break into a jig — old, young notwithstanding.
There was plenty for kids too, with game stalls like lucky 7 and virtual reality games.
But the best part about the fete — the absolutely brilliant performances put up by the children that kept the crowd hooked.
