NTPC underpass in Noida to be inaugurated on October 10

Uttar Pradesh industrial minister Satish Mahana, MP Mahesh Sharma and MLA Pankaj Singh are all set to inaugurate two key projects in Noida — the NTPC underpass and the 25-acre Herbal and Medicinal Park in sector 91 — on October 10, said sources in the Noida Authority.

The much-awaited 640-metres long underpass has been built at a cost of Rs 55.55 crore. The underpass, being built at the busy traffic intersection near the NTPC in Sector 24-32, has been delayed for nearly two years now.

Meanwhile, the Noida Authority is busy giving finishing touches to the wall art work at the underpass. Murals are being painted at the underpass under the theme of ‘Eternal Indian Banyan Tree - Kalpa Vriksha’ by the authority in association with the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA).

The work on the underpass had started on June 30, 2015. The underpass was supposed to be operational by 2016 end but the work was held up owing to the delay in shifting utility services that were passing through the land earmarked for the project.

The second place to be inaugurated is the Herbal and Medicinal Park in sector 91, which has been built at a cost of Rs 23.94 crore. The park also has facilities like meditation centre, walkways, gazebo huts, an amphitheatre, food court along with ample parking space.

A range of medicinal plants and fruit trees have been planted in the park including Indian gooseberry (amla), turmeric, soap nut (ritha), tamarind, lemon grass, sandal, cinnamon, neem, liquorice (mulethi), wild olive along with trees such chiku, papaya, mango and pomegranate.
