Starting today evening, the treatment plant at Basai will be unable to supply drinking water for the next 24 hours to repair one of the two master pipelines inside the plant. All colonies and sectors have been informed.
The GMDA said it will supply water today between 2pm and 7pm, but supply in the evening will be stopped.
The areas affected include sectors 4, 5, 7, 12, 21, 22, 23, Palam Vihar, 14, 15, 17, 18, 27 to 40, 43 to 45, MG Road, DLF phases 1-4.
Sandeep Dahiya, executive engineer, GMDA, said, “There are two pump houses inside the plant. The pipeline of pump house 2 is damaged and requires to be replaced. We will have to shut down both the pump houses (1 and 2) for repair work since they are interconnected. The process may take 20 to 24 hours.”
A similar situation had surfaced on September 9 and the entire pump had to be shut down.
According to GMDA officials, the pipelines of both the pump houses are a decade old and hence, the problem keeps revisiting.
Basai water treatment plant supplies treated canal water to the city’s two boosting stations located at Sector 16 near Signature Tower on the NH 48 and Sector 51 respectively. Areas such as DLF City, Essel Tower, Sushant Lok, MG Road and Golf Course Road get water from the Sector 16 boosting station, while those along Sohna Road get water from the Sector 51 station.
