The commuters, who are dependent on public transport, may face tough time on Monday as auto-rickshaws and taxis will be off the road due to strike in Delhi. Auto and taxi unions have decided to go on a strike against the Delhi government’s policies on cab aggregators.
Inderjeet Singh, chairman of All India Tour and Transport Association (AITTA) confirmed the news while talking to City Spidey on phone. Singh alleged that the Delhi government did not listen to their grievances despite several meetings.
“Auto-rickshaws and taxis will remain off the roads on Monday. We were not heard and therefore we had no option left except to go on strike,” Singh said.
He further added, “Auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers are losing their employment due to wrong transport policies of the government and also due to low fare offered to commuters by cab aggregators.”
The union has threatened to go on strike two days back, however, they were waiting for a meeting with the Delhi government which could not be held on Sunday. Hence, they have decided to go on strike.
