To boost the electricity supply, the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has decided to install additional transformers by September 15 in many areas of Gurgaon.
The residents of many areas are demanding transformers since May this year. The DHBVN said that the heavy rains in the last three months have affected the infrastructure in the city.
The officials informed that 170 transformers and 50 feeders have been damaged during the rainy season. They said that 170 transformers will be replaced immediately to continue uninterrupted power supply.
The DHBVN has surveyed the areas such as Sushant Lok, South City, New Palam Vihar and sectors 27, 28 for the installation of transformers. The residents of these areas had submitted many memorandums to the discom asking for immediate improvement in electricity infrastructure.
“We hope the intensity of rain in the city will go down from September 15 onwards, thus reducing the risk of damage to our feeders and transformers. We have around 25 new transformers in stock. Currently, our priority is to replace existing transformers in the event of a fire,” Sanjiv Chopra, chief engineer, DHBVN, Gurugram, said.
“We also have a list of 50 transformers that we will start issuing from September 15. Although we are in the rainy season when the demand for electricity is relatively lower, the risk to damage to our assets due to persistent wet weather remains. We have to remain alert,” he added.
The officials said that while Sushant Lok-1 requires 10 additional transformers, New Palam Vihar needs seven and sectors 27 and 28 require five transformers each.
