The residents of Amrapali Zodiac on Saturday wrote a letter to the district magistrate of Gautam Budh Nagar over the disconnection of power supply in the society. The Amrapali Zodiac is located in Sector-120 of Noida. Noida News
On August 2, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) had disconnected the electricity supply at 7.50 pm due to non-payment by the Amrapali management.
The residents had then requested the officials of UPPCL to resume the power supply. The power supply was resumed on the evening of August 3 with a condition.
The UPPCL had given four days of time to pay the electricity bills which was up to Rs 2.68 crore.
Residents said that they wanted to bring to the notice of DM that the electricity supply at Amrapali Leisure Valley, a residential society in Noida Extension, was disconnected by the electricity department due to non-payment.
They apprised the DM that the Supreme Court had asked the electricity department to continue with supply till the next hearing. They have written that they also want same kind of treatment. They mentioned that the SC had seized the accounts of the builder and that is why the payment was not done.
The residents said that they have already made payment to the builder and they are not at fault. They said that the present situation has not arisen because of them.
“The residents are suffering due to the power cut. There is no water supply in the society. 1700 families have been affected by this. Senior citizens and some patients staying in the society have been adversely affected. Residents who are living on upper floors are facing a lot of problems as lifts are not working,” said Joginder Singh, a resident of Amrapali Zodiac.
Singh said that they are ready to give the next electricity bills directly to UPPCL. “We requested the DM to order the UPPCL officials not to disconnect the power supply of Amrapali Zodiac,” he added.
“The DM forwarded our requests to officials of UPPCL and he assured that he will help in the matter,” Singh added.
