Due to the heavy rainfall over the past three days in Delhi-NCR quite a few buildings have been collapsing in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad. On Saturday morning, the boundary wall of community centre in Sector-34, Noida collapsed as well. noida news
According to a member of the sector’s RWA, the boundary wall was made 15 years ago at the time the community centre was built. “A few days ago, the street-light pole also fell during drilling. The RWA members informed the Noida Authority but nothing came out of it,” the member said.
KK Jain, RWA president of Dhawalgiri society in Sector-34, told City Spidey that the boundary wall had fallen in the adjacent plot, where the owner is building a guest house and had gotten some drilling work for the basement done recently. “No one was injured in this incident but the owner of the plot drilled the plot too much due to which the boundary wall collapsed,” he added. news
RK Mishra, Additional CEO of Noida Authority, said that for the last few days lots of incidents have been taking place in the area and one of the main reasons is drilling for basement. “Some action must be taken by the authority,” Mishra said.
Following the collapse of two six-storeyed buildings in Shahberi area, the residents of high-rises in Noida and Greater Noida are demanding for structure audit from the state government. Residents of high-rises have panicked and are living in fear after the incident.
