Dwarka residents undertake eco-friendly initiatives to protect environment

Residents of Dwarka are undertaking various initiatives such as plantation of trees, water conservation and composting in order to protect the environment and make their surroundings better.

Further, they have also launched a campaign against usage of plastic in the area.

Recently, volunteers of a social organization, Green Circle and people belonging to Dwarka Gurudwara treated a damaged tree.

Ramesh Mumukshu a member of Green Circle said, “A new practice is being followed nowadays whereby people are not only planting trees, but also saving them.”

Volunteers of another social organization, ‘Sukh Dukh Ke Sathi’ have been trying to improve the life span of trees in Sector 22 and 23 by removing termites in them.

As discussed above, residents of the sub-city are also involved in preparing compost from wet waste which is then used for horticultural purposes.

Arvind Rudra, a resident of Harmony Apartments, Sector 4 and an environmental expert said, “We must adopt community composting as that is one of the best ways to keep the area clean.”

Water conservation is another eco-friendly activity which is being given adequate importance by the people of the area. The subject is being discussed in several community meetings and residents are making efforts to revive nearby water bodies.
