UP ministerial committee, GDA tighten noose around builders

The three-member ministerial committee set up by the UP government in 2017 to look into several issues affecting builders and home buyers has made good progress in terms of prevailing upon erring builders.

The GDA which has been constantly reviewing the situation claims that about 66 per cent of projects with different builders that were delayed till now have been completed.

“About nine months ago when a three-member ministerial committee was formed to look into builder-buyer issues, nearly 23800 projects under 27 builders were delayed. However, now 15790 projects are ready and 8662 buyers have received possession of their homes,” said VK Singh, Officer of Special Duty (OSD), GDA.  Ghaziabad News

“As far as the remaining projects are concerned, we are maintaining pressure on the builders to ensure that they will deliver them soon,” added Singh.

GDA had taken stock of several projects in January 2018 and came to know that 12035 of them had been completed within their stipulated time period. Moreover, 4902 buyers had even received possession of their homes.

“In the last three months 3760 homes were handed over to the buyers due to our constant pressure over builders,” said Singh.

However, seven builders were found to be lagging behind in completion of the projects. As a result, the GDA and buyers have lodged FIRs against them.

“GDA has lodged FIRs against four builders which include Manju J Homes, Mahagun Real Estate, SVP Builders and Friendland Developers” said Singh.

The remaining FIRs have been lodged by home buyers against Value Infra, Ansal Properties and KDP Builders who have their projects in Noornagar and Vijay Nagar areas.
