Poor frequency of DTC buses makes life miserable for Dwarka residents

Residents of Dwarka face a lot of problems while commuting due to the lack of an efficient public transport system. They complain that poor frequency of the DTC buses RL75 and RL78 causes huge trouble for people of the sectors 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10.

The worst sufferers are the commuters residing in sectors like 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 as these places are located quite far from the main sub-city and there is no public transport available here apart from these buses. dwarka news

In order to fulfill commuters’ demands, the DTC buses RL75 and RL78 started plying from Sector 14 Metro Station and Sector 18 respectively in 2012. Residents claim that earlier the buses used to consistently arrive at their sectors. However, nowadays their frequency has reduced a lot.

“Now the RL75 is almost invisible in our area. The route undertaken by this bus connects sectors like 13, 14, 16 and 17 to the central markets of Dwarka. These markets are located around road number 202. However, appalling bus services have compelled commuters to use autos or battery rickshaws. There must be a dedicated public transport system which could connect our far flung sectors to the main sub-city,” said Anupam Yashovardhan, general secretary of RWA, Sector 14, Pocket 1.

The services of RL75 and RL78 were introduced mainly for the people who commute to office and railway stations from the sectors 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18. However, residents of these sectors are now demanding an increase in the number of buses on these routes.

“These buses are required by us to reach shops located at Ashirvad Chowk market and other major areas. Traveling on DTC buses is quite cheap for us and their poor frequency has created huge problems for us.,” said Sarita Verma, a resident of Om Apartments Sector 14.

Due to poor services of RL75, Dwarka residents also face trouble while commuting from Sector 14 Metro Station to sectors such as 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12 and 13.

When City Spidey questioned Deputy Chief General Manager Traffic, DTC, Anuj Sinha regarding the matter, he replied that necessary steps would be undertaken to address the problem.
