Dwarka: People meet DM to discuss water scarcity after sealing of borewells

A delegation of Federation of Cooperative Group Housing Societies (FCGHS) on Wednesday met District Magistrate (DM) to discuss water scarcity and other problems in Dwarka.

The delegation was led by the general secretary of FCGHS, Sudha Sinha, as they met DM, Abhishek Dev, at his Kapashera office. The problem of water scarcity arising after sealing of borewells in the area was the main issue during the meeting.
People put forward their request to address the sealing of borewells problem as it has started affecting the residential areas where it was implemented.

Sinha said, “It was primarily a courtesy call and to apprise DM of the recent developments in Dwarka. But, federation expressed its concern on sealing of borewells at a number of societies in Sector-9 and sought the intervention of DM's office.”

“We reminded the DM about the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s assurance of continuation of borewells in societies at a monthly charge,” added Sinha.

Other things which discussed in the meeting were the installation of solar systems in societies, financing of open gyms in the premises of various societies and other welfare plans.

During the meeting, the federation clarified that groundwater harvesting is fully functional in Dwarka and the societies were satisfied with the recent directions of submitting self-certificates once in a year.

PK Chopra, a member of the delegation said, “The meeting was fruitful and we got to know about many other things which are under the jurisdiction of DM. Like, we got to know about the open gym in societies and scheme of solar power for societies. We asked him to meet the people of Dwarka about such schemes and provide them to us.”

People also informed that the DM agreed to visit Dwarka for a formal interaction with them.

“We asked DM to meet people. Soon, a meeting would be organised by the federation. Also, regular meetings with DM will continue in future as well,” said Sinha.
