Wanted Naxal commander nabbed in a late-night raid by Noida police


Almost two years after a major bust, a Naxalite connection might have resurfaced in Noida once again. In a late-night operation, Noida police claimed to have nabbed a Naxal commander from the city, who was wanted in multiple murder cases and had a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head.

A revolver was also recovered from the possession of the arrested Naxal commander.

GB Nagar SSP Ajaypal Sharma, along with a police team, reached Sector 5 and started the search operation in Harola village. Seeing police, one person tried to flee from a house and was nabbed and taken into custody. The police were taken aback once his name was revealed. The accused has been identified as Sudhir Bhagat, a Naxal commander, who is accused of bomb blast in a factory in Bihar besides several murders. Noida News

There are 14 murders and 6 massacre allegations against Bhagat, who hails from Bihar's Muzaffarpur. The Naxal leader was living under an alias in a Sector 5 house since 2015. He was also studying B.Tech from Divyajyoti College of Modinagar in Ghaziabad.

The SSP said that verification programmes will start in villages and sectors, so miscreants hiding in disguise are unable to escape police net.

Only in 2015, UP ATS had arrested six Naxalites from Hindon Vihar in Noida. The arrested naxalites included Naxal commander Pradeep Singh Kharwar and his son Upendra Singh Khawar. He had been living in Noida since 2012. The police had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on him. He was one of Bihar's most wanted Maoists.

Sudhir Bhagat was able to escape and the police have been on the lookout since then. Bihar police had also placed a bounty of Rs 50,000 on his head, and he too was among one of the most wanted Maoists of the state.
