Maaz Khan, the 20 year old BTech student who went missing recently after exiting Vaishali metro station in Ghaziabad has been found in Kaushambi.
Police said that they had floated information and pictures of Khan on Whatsapp groups and received an update late on Tuesday night from Kaushambi regarding an injured person matching his identity.
According to family members, Khan had gone missing on the night of March 19 after boarding a shared auto-rickshaw near Vaishali metro station.
He was heading back home to Meerut after missing his flight to Saudi Arabia which he was supposed to board from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Further, he was supposed to meet his family members who were waiting for him nearby Mohan Nagar. Ghaziabad News
Family members had lost contact with Maz around 11.45 PM on the fateful night of his disappearance after their last call on his phone was received by a girl who only said ‘hello’. However, they claimed to have heard Maz’s voice in the background during the call.
“He has severe injuries in his face and head and it seems that he is under the influence of some narcotic substance. He is unable to speak. Prima facie, it looks like a case of loot. The auto rickshaw driver along with other persons might be involved in looting the belongings of the person. After rescued, he was provided medical aid and was later handed over to his family members,” said Dharmendra Singh Chauhan, circle officer of Indirapuram.
Family members said that the miscreants looted Khan’s belongings before beating him up.
“They took away his bag which contained clothes, three mobile phones, his wallet containing 1500 Rupees and 150 Rials, his passport along with the shoes and jacket he was wearing at the time. Although, he is unable to speak at the moment, he recognises us,” said Iftikar Khan, Maaz’s father.
