If you happen to drive or walk from the petrol pump in Dwarka Sector 11 towards the Gurudwara or residential societies such as Seema Apartments, Ashoka Enclave and Modest Ketaki Apartments, you are sure to notice the pathetic condition of the road you are taking.
DDA had initiated repair work on this 100-m stretch about six and a half months back. However, the work has been abandoned halfway and as a result, the road is now in a worse condition.
People of the nearby societies are having to contend with dust and pollution from this stretch. Commuters, on the other hand, are finding it difficult to drive on the road. A resident of the area, Shalini Sharma, said, “This is utter negligence on the part of DDA. If it was not serious about the repair work, it should not have started it. I have asked DDA officials when they will finish the pending construction. However, I am yet to receive a satisfactory response.”
Aprajita Gautam, a resident of Ashoka Enclave, added, “We have discussed this issue on various resident forums of Dwarka that have representation from the authorities. However, sadly, nothing seems to be moving.” Dwarka News
Dwarka Forum, a resident body of the sub-city, has been writing to DDA continuously about the issue. Also, an RTI was filed by the forum to know the actual status of the road. Speaking to City Spidey, SK Goel, general secretary of Dwarka Forum, said that he had found that an amount of Rs 53 lakh was accorded for this work. Considering that the stretch is only 100 m, this is a considerably large amount. Goel blamed DDA's mismanagement for the stalled repairs.
Speaking on the issue, SN Singh, chief engineer of DDA, said that the tenders had already been floated as far as the remaining construction was concerned. “In fact, work will soon be resumed,” he stated.
