Acting on residents’ complaints regarding the lackadaisical approach of the police towards increasing cases of petty crimes in East Delhi, local MP Mahesh Giri met with special commissioner of Delhi police, SBK Singh, at Delhi police headquarters in ITO.
He demanded more police personnel and close monitoring of residential areas under his constituency. He also handed over a letter mentioning quite a few unsolved cases lodged with the local police stations.
Offering help, Giri said would get CCTV cameras installed wherever required. “In the last one-and-a-half years, about 650 CCTV cameras have been installed in East Delhi, including Delhi-Noida border areas. Wherever I visit, residents complain of lack of security. I can have CCTV cameras installed, but it is up to the area police to ensure the security of hapless residents,” he said while speaking to City Spidey.
