Dwarka which is populated by the Bengali community is known for its innovative themes when it comes to Durga Puja pandals. This year has been no different. At Dakshinayan Apartments, Sector 4 the pandal resembles the monumental Lotus Temple.
A member of the Dakshinayan Puja Committee, Saurabh Mustafi said, “This year we decided to have the Lotus Temple as a theme for two reasons. First lotus is often seen in the hands of the divine mother and second it is our national flower. Besides a white lotus is also a symbol of peace. Our pandal is proving to be the biggest attraction across the sub city. Since the Lotus Temple belongs to another faith we have also tried to give a message of social and religious harmony by incorporating it as a theme.” Dwarka News
Mustafi said that this year more crowds are expected in Dwarka as the pandal themes are especially unique and there is a greater variety of stalls and cultural programmes. “We expect a footfall of more than 2 lakh people this year,” he added.
On the other hand, the gate of the huge pandal of Bangia Samaj at Sector 6 is a replica of the White House. Last year this pandal was styled like the iconic Sun Temple. Secretary of Bangia Samaj, BK Barua said, “We selected the White House as our theme because currently India is growing its relationship with the United States. Our pandal is the biggest in Dwarka with a standing capacity of 4000 people at a time.” Apartment management software
