Today undettered by the rains, hundreds of Jaypee homebuyers had staged a protest against the Jaypee Group outside the building of Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in Sector 128 of Noida.
Most of these homebuyers have paid almost 80 to 90 percent of the total price of the flat to the developer way back in 2009-10. However, today after almost seven years they are without their flats. The buyers are angry at the UP Government too. Allegedly at the time of elections, this government had promised to accord priority in terms of resolving the issue of delayed/stalled possession of residential flats. However, today months after their coming into power there has been no action at their end. Buyers also allege that the builder is declaring himself to be bankrupt as he deliberately wants to pocket their hard earned money.
Arun Balyan, a homebuyer who is particularly distressed said that if the builder does not give his flat he shall be compelled to commit suicide. “The UP Government and the builder shall be responsible for my suicide,” Balyan warned. “I have a small income and have invested my father’s savings too into this project. Plus I have taken a bank loan. I cannot continue to pay EMIs. Also now I am unable to face my father,” he added.
There were some other protestors who were complaining about the poor quality of construction too.
“After eight years I got my flat but it was of inferior quality. Services like security, electricity etc are also lacking. The safety factor is abysmal as there are no CCTV cameras. It somehow feels that the ceiling of the flat will fall anytime. The construction is that bad,” Neera Singh, a resident of Jaypee Wishtown in Sector 128 told this City Spidey correspondent.
