Gurgaon: DC orders schools to submit safety and security guidelines

The heinous murder of the eight-year-old student at the premises of Ryan International School, Bhondsi, has definitely zoomed in everybody’s focus on safety and security within schools. The Gurgaon District Administration has now instructed schools to submit their safety and security certificates within 15 days under section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). Gurgaon news

The schools have been directed to form safety committees that will comprise of both school staff representatives and parents.

All schools have been instructed to install CCTV cameras at critical places and ensure that the ones already installed are in working condition. Some other safety aspects that have been reiterated by the administration include fire safety and separate toilets for staff and children. Moreover, it has now been mandated that school toilets shall only have lady attendants. Lady attendants shall also be deployed in school buses that will have GPS tracking devices.
“We have instructed schools to send their compliance reports to the District Education Officer. All defaulters shall face severe action,” said Deputy Commissioner, Vinay Pratap Singh. Apartment management system
Any school violating the instructions and guidelines on safety shall be punished under Section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
