I'puram RWAs take to cleaning drains themselves

Tired of approaching the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) with complaints regarding clogged drains in Indirapuram, RWAs of the city have taken it upon themselves to clean the neighbourhood's drains. The drains are meant to relieve the area of waterlogging and facilitate immediate dispensing of rain water. One such example has come up where residents and RWA members of India Moon City in Ahinsa Khad II have taken to cleaning a drain that passes by the entry gates of the society.

Residents of the society said they had approached GDA several times over the past three months, as they were apprehensive about waterlogging in the area. However, little has been done to better the situation. RWA members of the society told City Spidey that their society is the worst affected since their society is at a low-lying area. The society also has flats on the ground floor. “At times, water overflowing from the drain flows into the ground floor flats," said Sekhar Yadav, RWA president of India Moon City. "After discussing with 150 households of the society, we decided to clean the drain ourselves.” Indirapuram News
