Gurgaon: Traffic changes to improve traffic condition at Genpact Chowk

In a bid to decongest the intersection at Genpact on Golf Course Road, Gurgaon, the authorities have removed barricades to increase road width and blocked a u-turn to streamline traffic flow.

The Genpact crossing has been a nightmare for commuters over the past six months owing to the construction of an underpass there. On the morning of July 25, traffic came to a standstill for two hours after a crane broke down at the crossing. Earlier last month, traffic police officials had to be deployed to restore traffic after construction work led to an encroachment on the main road. Gurgaon Society News

By placing barriers, authorities have blocked the u-turn opposite South Point Mall and prevented traffic coming from St Thomas Marg to merge with traffic from Sikanderpur towards AIT Chowk at the Genpact intersection, a major cause of the congestion.  Gurgaon News

“Traffic flow on Golf Course Road will further improve once the underpass opens next month," an official of DLF said on the condition of anonymity.
On July 26, authorities had also opened two new U-turns 500 m from the junction located opposite to the entrance of Park Drive and Augusta Point.
Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and DLF are building the DLF underpass jointly. Once functional the 8.3km road from Sector 55/56 to Shankar Chowk will be signal-free.
