Jharsa Road has been opened to traffic now. It had been closed after a portion of the road caved in, owing to a sewer line rupture.
Jharsa crossing is one of the busiest intersections on NH 8.
After being closed off, commuters had to go all the way to Rajeev Chowk to reach Sector 15, which is right across the highway. Gurgaon Local Newsccc
“I had to travel 3 km extra every day to reach Vijay Rattan Vihar, where I go for tuitions. It's a relief I won't have to face the ordeal every day,” said Shambhu Bannerji, a commuter.
The authorities took almost a week to repair the road.
The traffic police had, in the meantime, deployed additional staff at the crossing to manage traffic. “Since this is a congested stretch, we were called in to help in the traffic diversions,” said Raj Kumar, RSO (Road Safety Officer).
The situation at the crossing is smooth now.
